Entrance Preview :
JET was the entrance exam which I passed and I got 193 rank. I chose diploma in Mechanical Engineering because I was quite passionate about mechanics and all and also I was very eager to go into a "junior college", away from school life.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I think the course curriculum is quite good and very well updated. Recently a leading newspaper of both India told their readers that this is the best Polytechnic College in North India. The management of this college also mainly focus on research of course structure to keep its students up to date with the technology introduced in the world every day.
Internships Opportunities :
No, the diploma wing of our college as to my knowledge doesn't provide any internship to the students.
Placement Experience :
Yes, our college is the only Polytechnic College in North India that provide placement to such greater extent to their students. Many MNC's like Swaraj Mazda Ltd., Maruti Suzuki are the main for Mechanical field and many more for other fields. The package they provide to us diploma students is quite good actually. They provide up to 6 lacs per annum to the most brilliant students which means they give up to Rs 50,000 per month to a diploma student. They give placement to almost 85% of the students who get an overall 60% marks in exam and that's quiet amazing about this college.
College Events :
Our college celebrates lots of social as well as cultural events. Inter College sports events are also held. NCC, NSS are some of the active organizations in our college which organize number of camps and events. Fresher's party is organized every year to welcome the fresh batch of students and an annual party is also held every year to say a warm and loving goodbye to the senior most batch. Apratim which is also a quite famous event was also recently held in our college.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The fee structure of the college is on an inexpensive side. One reason for that is the college being a government college. You will only have to pay 5 to 6 thousnd ruppees for your ward's admission and after that an average of Rs 6,000 every year. This is an average fee for each trade/ course and the fee difference of different courses is not much.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
I don't know about any loans but there there are lots of scholarships that any student can avail. From general, minority to SC and ST, there are scholarships for each community students. Especially the ones from a poor background get special scholarships.
Campus Life :
The campus life is very exciting and fun. The students are full of compitetive spirit but on the other side they also share a strong bond of friendship. The gender ratio is on an average side which is 60:40. The ethnicity in the college is maintained by the students as the college is in Chandigarh, students wears kurta- pajamas and salwar suits. Students of different gender and race doesnot show much affection towards each other but one thing is fine that they respect each other's religion.
Alumni/Alumna :
The experience with the seniors of the college was fine with me. It is obvious that if they are seniors then they may show a bit rude behavior but there is no ragging in this college. On the other hand we learn a lot from our seniors about the faculty, placement and other important tips and help in studies.
Exam Structure :
The exam structure is quiet an average one. With the word average I meant that neither it is to hectic and stressful and nor it is too chilled out. Exams are conducted once in the span of 6 months and in between a span of 6 months there are 2 cycle tests/ sessionals which are conducted. If a subject includes lab, then you just have to go to the lab once a week for that subject.
