Sakshi Negi's Review On Indo Global College Of Architecture, Mohali

Course Curriculum Overview :

The architecture course curriculum is pretty diverse and the college strives to cover all aspects of it really well. The exams aren't stressful and can be pretty easily be done with. Although the drawing assignments and projects can be time consuming and hectic.

Placement Experience :

Our college does not have a placement drive for architecture students. Companies come for B.tech recruitment but they aren't any recruitment in the architecture department. They isn't much choice for architecture students in the college regarding jobs. The students have to look for their internship themselves.

College Events :

We celebrate various events in our college. Apart from technical workshops there are also job fairs held. Cultural festivals are organized on a large scale and almost all of the students participate in it.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure is feasible when compared to the other colleges in the region but the hostel expenses are a little much. The total fees is 75,00 plus including the hostel facility for one semester of the course.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Since I am of general category I could not get any sort of scholarship. But there is a good scholarship for students from Kashmir and also students from north east of the country. They are paid good scholarship.

Campus Life :

There is freshers and farewell party for the students. Workshops are conducted in college. But there aren't many events except for Lohri, freshers or sports day. There isn't a student union in the college.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel cost is very high and the hostels are not in good condition. The mess food is really bad. The washrooms are dirty with faulty locks. There is also shortage of rooms in girls hostel. Hostel experience is very bad.

Admission :

I had gotten my rank in NATA and through counselling chose this collge out of the other options. I had to submit all my academic and other certificates and also pay the course fee to get an allotment order. After submitting it to the college and reporting there my admission was confirmed.

Faculty :

The faculty of the college is very experienced and some of them have been established architects. They guide the students through the projects but the only issue is that there isn't much practical teaching.

Remarks:

Our college has a peaceful environment with vast campus space. But the infrastructure is old. Also there isn't placement opportunities for the students. The hostels can be improved by a great deal. But the faculty is good, although some practical work can be improved in teaching.

Admission:

I was interested in pursuing Bachelors in Architecture and those opted for this college. I took the JEE Main Paper 2 and qualified it. Sat for the counselling and got the college in the later rounds of counselling. Admissions to the college are done based on the merit. However, certain seats are also offered through management quota.

Placement Experience:

Internship opportunities are available for students. Students can search for Internship outside and the placement cell also guides students about the same. Placement rate of the college is nice. A good number of companies come to the campus and students can also explore job opportunities outside. Many seniors have got decent placement package.

Remarks:

It typically takes a semester or quarter to hit your stride. Looking back on those early days you may very well shake your head and wonder what all the fuss was about. You might even feel a little nostalgic! A few students, however, may feel overwhelmed and homesick for a while. They may miss their parents, friends, even the family dog. They may find that going to college is not quite what they expected. If this turns out to be you, take advantage of on-campus counseling services. Virtually all colleges have such services. Your health center staff can help you get started. They are highly experienced at helping students just like you.

Entrance Preview:

I took the NATA (National Aptitude Test for Architecture) and obtained the score 80 / 200 . I appeared once again for the examination in the same year and scored 100/200 so average was calculated as 90.

Admission:

I migrated from another college in 2nd year to RIMT, as it was recommended by a friend. I went to the campus in the month of August and got the form from them. After the form was filled , it was immediately submitted and got the admission confirmed within nearly a week.
