Remarks :

University of Calicut is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities of Kerala. Studying from here has been a very enriching experience. The syllabus the access to library has all contributed to my overall learning here

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum was very helpful for me to understand many things. I have been working as a writer for a government sector and whatever I have learned has been put into use. The syllabus included: Paper I Modern Political Analysis and Political Sociology Paper 2 Modern Indian Social and Political Thought Paper 3 Indian Government and Politics Paper 4 Theories and Concepts of Public Administration The study material is prepared by the teachers and will be made available to the students through the contact classes. The copies of which will be available on the website (www.sdeuoc.ac.in>Student Zone> Study Materials). Exams will be conducted every semester. The examinations will be conducted by the Controller of Examinations. The students need to submit their applications through online from Pareeksha Bhavan. The online application needs to be printed and forwarded to the controller of examinations with required documents. Through newspapers and university website the students shall receive the intimation about examinations.

Placement Experience :

I got job as a writer in government Sector Company. Some people can do NET after this and become a lecturer in college, one can become a political content writer, journalist, activist, NGO organizer, consultant etc. The opportunities are numerous.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fees is very reasonable, Rs.500 admission fees, approx 3000 for 1 year course fee plus some additional Rs.500 in total for matriculation fees, recognition fees etc. The Fee structure would be made available once the admission notification is out. However it can be paid in 2 instalments. One at the time of admission and 2nd instalment at the time of completion of 2nd semester and beginning of 3rd semester. The students need to check out the university website to know the tuition fees. Examination fees will have to be paid separately while applying for exam. Tuiton fee and examination fee exemption is provided to students who belong to ST/SC/OEC given that are not employed by govt of India. You can visit the link for more details http://sdeuoc.ac.in/sites/default/files/sde_videos/Prospectus_PG%20Programmes_%20%202019-20.pdf

Campus Life :

The teachers conduct themselves with utmost grace and modesty and bring in the same culture towards the students. Here students are empowered with knowledge and motivated to become responsible citizens. All students are treated equally regardless of their economic strata or sexual orientation. The library is very nicely materialized with the best of books which helps the students get a better understanding of the subject.

Admission :

The University of Calicut is the 2nd oldest and largest university set up in Kerala. I wanted to get a government job as I was always keen in serving the country in some way or another. I enjoyed the structure of how our goverment works and hence decided to take up this course. The admission process is simple and can be done online through the website www.universityofcalicut.info. A list of documents has to be submitted and then the admission process would be complete.

Faculty :

The entire faculty base is highly educated and most of them are PhD holders and NET qualified. The faculty is accessible for any doubt clearing sessions and the material taught by them is very understandable.

Placement Experience:

From the second last semester of UG and PG students can attend campus placement calls and interviews, there is a separate club for placements that will make students able to attend the placement calls, the club will help them to achieve their dream through campus placement. So many companies like Wipro, Amazon, Flipkart, federal banks, syndicate banks, etc.. hire students through campus placement. The percentage of campus placement is increasing per year average placement is more than 70%. The average package is more than 10k per month, the maximum package is 1 lakh per month. After getting a degree students can choose either placement or higher studies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because after gaining a master's in economics, I could be well equipped and eligible to prepare for and attend those tests and jobs I prefer. The college provides well-qualified faculties. There are enough lecturers and guest lecturers in every department. Most of them have doctorates and other high degrees. Some have even written some academic publications. Many of them have had years of teaching experience and they share a good bond with the students too. Different teachers have different methods of teaching and almost everyone considers the needs of the students and is even willing to bring about changes in their style. Course Curriculum is prepared according to the University of Kerala and UGC norms. As the college is having an autonomous status, the exams are conducted by the college itself following the university rules and regulations. Exams, both internal and semester are conducted regularly without fail and results to are published within a short span.

Remarks:

I chose a liberal arts college like Farook College because I wanted smaller class sizes and the chance to establish close relationships with other students and my professors. I thrive in a collaborative environment, and I relished the opportunity to engage with other students and work together to complete projects. Following listed are the things I liked most about the college: 1. Independence- One of the main things I liked about this college is independence. This college made me independent to take major decisions in my life. A media student should always be independent and critical in one's own decision making no matter whether the outcome is good or bad which is one of the major things I gained from this college. 2. Academia- Academia is another important factor that attracted me to this college. The college provides good academia with greater facilities of library with digital library that enables e-learning as well. The college provides ample atmosphere for research purposes as well.
