Remarks :

Wish we had more faculty members with Industry exposure the hostels and canteens leave a lot to be desired.

Entrance Preview :

The college has its own entrance exam which consists of an aptitude test which tests analytical and logical thinking. There is also a portion which test general knowdlege and social work aptitude. Reading the newspapers and minimal preparation on analytical thinking can easily help you pass the test. Post this, there is a personal interview and a review of the academic performance of the past a good consolidated score gives you a good chance of getting admitted.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Overall well designed but the first year has very little HR subjects which is a major drawback considering MA HRM students who have better theoritical. Hoever MA Social Work students are hands on and dont mind getting their hands dirty to do the dirty work. It prepares them well for a career in IR.

Internships Opportunities :

Internships are usually not paid as Learning is free and this should be seen as the real out come and not the stipend earned from it. However most employers pay for food and transport is provided free of cost one may only have incidental expenses to incur.

Placement Experience :

Excellent placements records with around 95-98 % of students placed a the end of the 2 year period. The only ones who dont make it are those not interested to take up a job or the rare case of lack of skills or attitude to work. For the hard worker there are always jobs for the taking.

College Events :

Plenty of HR events, conclaves and monthly NHRD Seminars and NIPM presentations will keep you busy throughout the day. Membership to NHRD and NIPM are mandatory. One gets internships based on the relationships build during such conferences.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fees for students who score well in the entrance exam is very much affordable however those on management seats would need to shell out around 2 lakhs to gain entry.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees for students joining on merit is very low and easily affordable. Meritorious students can avail scholarships from the College as well provided they are eligible in terms of socio economic status.

Campus Life :

Campus life is exciting in this course as most of it is practical and learning is done through exploration and self experience. The course involves a lot of physical hard work as well and there is no special consideration shown to any specific gender.

Hostel Facilities :

Average in terms of hostel and food need definite improvements here both these facilities are maintained by the college and not the department hence there is very little to expect any thing from them.

Alumni/Alumna :

Almost all seniors and the alumni are well placed in reputed organisations. The department keeps in touch with most of the alumni and have a strong alumni network which they tap into to give students industry exposure.

Exam Structure :

Exams held once every 6 months a lot of priority is given to on field experience and learning presentations and internships are given equal weightage.

Faculty :

Another area of improvement in the faculty though they have the best of intentions some faculty dont seem to have up to date industry knowledge and their knowledge is mere theoritcal that they can engage students in current day topics. Also, research knowledge of faculty in minimal.

Placement Experience:

The college has a very much active placement cell which starts providing placement from the last semester itself. However, in my personal opinion the placements offered for history department were very less. We were not able to meet the eligibility requirements. It was very beneficial to the science and commerce background students. There were huge companies visiting the campus but like I mentioned it was specially for other departments so I donot have any experience with the placement cell.

Remarks:

The college has good in the language before some few years back. And still now it’s somhow good in relevance in the studies but sometimes much more pressure and extra works that was not much necessary in the departmental curriculum. One bad things is the college didn’t listen to the students voice and opinions and students were considered as money. Much more pressure and once president said is finalised and no options. There is many stories within the students that cannot reveals but most of all they wait for the graduation.

The Stella Maris College offers 40 seats in the P.G course. They conduct an entrance exam for the students who apply online for the course. Along with the written exam, there is also an interview with the heads of the department of English. I scored 70% in the exam and 4.5 in the interview out of 5. The college was known for the great exposure that it provides especially in the department of English.

Placement Experience:

There were lot of placements and job opportunities provided by the college, brought in many companies. The major companies were Cognizant, Tata Consultancy Services and UST Global, were our department had to go on as technical writers and content writers, also some publishing companies like Exeter appeared to grab us on those fields. There were also some school level approaches like the Indian School and the Talentese. The offers and the packages started from 3,00,000 per annum.
