Remarks :

This is one of the best women's college in the district and the English department has the best staffs. For people in and around the area, this college is the first preference for most girls and their parents.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Though it was an Autonomous institution, the syllabus was awesome. There was a great panel of professors who kept updating the syllabus according to latest needs. We had three internal assessments, a model exam and then semester exam.

Placement Experience :

Placements were available and mostly schools and colleges from in and around the city came to recruit us. Though we didn't have internship in our college, we were able to apply for part time doctorate degree helping us to earn while we finish our degree.

College Events :

There were so many college events apart from the events organised by the department. We had college inauguration, freshers day, inter collegiate cultural meet, founder's day, sports day and the competitions conducted by the department. UGC sponsored seminars were also organised.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fees was highly affordable as it was a government aided course. We just had to pay minimum fees for the course as the rest will be borne by the government. Apart from that, we had to pay the exam fees and fees for other optional courses.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

So many government based scholarships were available. Few scholarships can be applied directly through the college. While for UGC scholarships, students have to apply online to avail those. For university rank holders, 2000 per month was granted.

Campus Life :

The students represent national and international levels tournaments in sports. The labs were of the latest state of art facility and it enabled the students to be better than the students of other colleges and gave us a better exposure to latest technology.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel was just okay. From the college the hostel was 2km away. So the college has buses to drop the students from the hostel to the college. Since the students were dependent on college bus, it seemed safe to travel.

Alumni/Alumna :

Alumni meet, Purples day out as the call it in my college gave us an inspiration while learning about the real life employment opportunities from our seniors. Also the alumni helped the under prevlidged students by providing scholarships for their studies.

Admission :

As soon as 12th results were declared, we had to provide an attested copy of the mark sheet and the students were selected based on the marks in English. Also a basic interview was conducted by the faculty of English to test our language skills.

Faculty :

As it was a government aided course, all the staffs has the highest qualification. Each professor was an expert in her field and were really guiding us in our research and were easily approachable to clear all our doubts.

Placement Experience:

The college has a very much active placement cell which starts providing placement from the last semester itself. However, in my personal opinion the placements offered for history department were very less. We were not able to meet the eligibility requirements. It was very beneficial to the science and commerce background students. There were huge companies visiting the campus but like I mentioned it was specially for other departments so I donot have any experience with the placement cell.

Remarks:

The college has good in the language before some few years back. And still now it’s somhow good in relevance in the studies but sometimes much more pressure and extra works that was not much necessary in the departmental curriculum. One bad things is the college didn’t listen to the students voice and opinions and students were considered as money. Much more pressure and once president said is finalised and no options. There is many stories within the students that cannot reveals but most of all they wait for the graduation.

The Stella Maris College offers 40 seats in the P.G course. They conduct an entrance exam for the students who apply online for the course. Along with the written exam, there is also an interview with the heads of the department of English. I scored 70% in the exam and 4.5 in the interview out of 5. The college was known for the great exposure that it provides especially in the department of English.

Placement Experience:

There were lot of placements and job opportunities provided by the college, brought in many companies. The major companies were Cognizant, Tata Consultancy Services and UST Global, were our department had to go on as technical writers and content writers, also some publishing companies like Exeter appeared to grab us on those fields. There were also some school level approaches like the Indian School and the Talentese. The offers and the packages started from 3,00,000 per annum.
