Sajal's Review for MIT Manipal

Remarks :

The college being situated in a student town makes it a wonderful experience altogether.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The subjects are really good but the implementation of the course is not upto the expectations. We have all the courses that a UG student must know but it would've been nice if we were implementing whatever we learn practically and not just for the subjects where we had projects. They should've asked us in the beginning of the college which technology do we want to study like Data Science, AppDev, WebDev etc. And we should've taught that one in depth.

Placement Experience :

Companies like Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Amazon, Samsung, SAP Labs, etc came for Internship opportunities but the overall number of companies was very less and more than 80% of us are forced to get an internship off campus. No special training for placements was given and we were all very clueless at the times.

College Events :

Technical fest is called TechTatva and has a low participation from inside and outstation combined. The quality of events is low and the administration doesn't take many steps in helping us organise the fests. Their monetary constraints are high and leads to decrease in quality of the fests. Cultural Fest is called Revels and has a good participation overall. The number of participants is over 2000 in this fest and the whole college has great vibes due to artists that Proshow Team in Revels gets.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The college is expensive but average in private colleges. The facilities provided and infrastructure does account for the fees. Fees only has to be paid if you confirm your admission in the institute. 285000 for 1st year, 385000 for next 3 years each.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I haven't opted for any such loans. The college provides scholarship to top 5% of students that take admission.

Campus Life :

The campus Life is amazing and the college vibes are really great. The whole town is a student town which makes the whole city's vibes very student friendly. The competitions are not up to the mark but college supports research really well. The institute believes in quality of papers over quantity.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel rooms are like Hotels. Only thing missing is television but that's also available in the common rooms. The cleanliness is really amazing. There are different types of rooms available and allotment is based on CGPA. The wifi is bad but good enough to study.

Alumni/Alumna :

The Alumni network is strong and MITians always have each other's backs even after college. They are very helpful and very welcoming unless someone had a very bad experience with the university which is rare.

Admission :

Applied for MUOET (Manipal University Open Entrance Test). Wrote it and scored well in it. Had to decide the date of exam and venue ourselves. Came for counseling on 6th June and joined college on 17th July. It was the best college I was getting and was nearby as well to my home. MIT is a well reputed institute in the country and has great Alumni network. It has the course that I wanted and the number of students is less making the overall vibes of college much better.

Faculty :

It all depends on the faculty at an individual level. Some teachers act like they know what they're teaching but they really don't. In general, most teachers know their subjects but most of them are not able to share their expertise well with us. They end up making the subjects boring and useless. Some teachers on the other hand are really good and have a vast knowledge about the subjects.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible to get placements from their 6th to 7th semester as whatever basic is needed by them to a company is embedded into them. Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Cisco, and many other companies visit our college and make many offers. The highest package in my course was 47 L.P.A previous year and average is 7 to 8 L.P.A. Almost all students get placed in our branch almost every year. I just wanna do a start-up after completion of my course and getting my degree.
