Remarks

Overall its a good experience at SSN. If you're in chennai and are searching for a college i'm sure SSN should be one of the best choices. Make sure to consider other govt aided colleges of course as SSN may not live up to those standards if that's where your mindset is.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course curriculum is comprehensive. The volume of portions is large but the teachers complete it within the given time. Exam structure is 3 Continuous assesments (best 2 is taken) and 1 final exam. Split is 40% internal and 60% external (final).

Placement Experience

3.5

Placements are good. The college is supposed to have good placements compared to other nearby colleges however nothing compared to govt aided colleges. The college does offer internships however i have not taken part in any.

College Events

2.5

We have technical event Invente and Cultural event Instincts. Both of these are advertised as national events however i have observed that many nearby colleges attend and that's about it. They are organised decently but they are quite small.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee is very manageable compared to other private colleges and many scholarships are awarded both need based and merit based. It has right around the same fee structure as the IIT's. Overall its not bad at all.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college offers need based scholarship for many students. There are special scholarships for rural, vocational education students. Merit based scholarships are awarded to the top few students in each department.

Campus Life

3.5

Sports in college is extremely competitive. R Ashwin (Indian cricket team) was from our college, you can imagine many such students in various sports under the same roof would make for great competition. If youre a sportsman then SSN is the right place as the management makes sure that they succeed.

Alumni/Alumna

We have a dedicated alumni network online which helps students link with alumnus and is very useful. Seniors are great for the most part. The college does not encourage too much interaction between seniors and juniors as i have not seen too many events which encourage this.

Admission

The overall merit list is calculated based on board marks, entrance exam score and interview score. JEE Main rank is used to break ties. Admission is offered based on overall merit list. There are separate merit lists based on category.

Faculty

4

Faculty are great. They spend a lot of hours with the student compared to faculty of other colleges. Hence the are able to give special care to students' needs and are able to offer a higher quality of learning based on individuals needs.

Placement Experience:

In my college, on campus placement opportunitiesd for core biotechnology and life science fields were quite limited, While there were placement drives conducted during the final year, the majority of companies that visited were from IT, customer support, and non-core sectors, which weren't directly relevant to the field of biotechnology.
