Remarks

I completed my BFA Applied Arts from The Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata. The college is actually located in a museum which makes it quite amazing and special itself, the college is quite famous here. For me, the college is a centre of creativity in itself, the faculty is amazingly skilled and the infrastructure is also quite good.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The College is affiliated by the University of Calcutta. It strictly follows all the guidelines and rules mandated by the University of Calcutta and also follows its drafted syllabus. The whole focus of syllabus is to groom the students in all form of arts, painting methods and help them initiate their creativity.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees of the college is pretty feasible. The fee for my BFA Applied Arts was overall Rs. 2000 and Rs. 1000 per year. The fee compared to the knowledge offered here is almost negligible.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college also offers scholarships for meritorious and economically weaker students, this is to motivate art and creativity of oneself and give it new heights. Other students can still apply and avail the state scholarships available, they are eligible for.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network of The Government College of Art and Craft is quite strong, many of the famous painters were originated from here. The most famous of the alumni of this institute include Nandalal Bose, Jamini Roy, Jogen Chowdhury, Sudip Roy and Ananta Mandal. The seniors were also pretty helpful to us for the entire duration, they always helped us when we were stuck in anything or had a hard time learning a skill. They also provided us with guidance as well as told us the problems they faced, so we could take care of the hard parts while painting or anything else.

Admission

I took admission into this college based on my 12th aggregate, after filling the application form I was called to visit the college for completing my admission process. I visited the college and was asked for my ID proof and my 12th marksheet, for verification. After that I filled the registration form and was enrolled in the BFA Applied Arts, as I wished. I also submitted a small portion of my fee after that to ensure my admission there.

The Government College of Art and Craft, Calcutta is privileged to have reputed people in the field as faculty members. The faculty here are quite skilled painters, who are seen as guiding stars by the students because of their skilful works. Faculty helps students create their own style of painting and build their career in their own style. The faculty is also pretty friendly to students and sometimes strict when needed and always help students when they are in the learning process and tumble upon problems. Students are also encouraged to prepare their own learning pattern rather than following the academic syllabus. The Government College of Art and Craft is up to date with the latest trends in painting around the world.

Every faculty needs to qualify for class 12th and the teaching method was so good. The teachers also helped in all the cases and also if any student wants to learn others department work after specialisation department the teachers also help him for learning others work. The admission test exam time was 2 hours one hour for model drawing one our for composition with watercolour and after that the select the candidate and expose the list who can eligible for the viva test and it's too difficult after that they take viva and select the candidate and expose the shortlist finally.
