Remarks :

Positive remark- The overall environment is great, we have experienced faculty, helpful seniors and talented peers. Negative remark- There is no placement cell after graduation in the College. Place cell is active only for post graduation students.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is comprehensive. In the first year, we focus on Introductory Micco and Macro economics, mathematics, basics of statistics. English and EVS are the pass subjects. In the Second and Third year, we focus on advanced statistics, intermediate macro and micro economics, as well as Econometrics. Students can also opt for computer language training courses.

Internships Opportunities :

No, the College does not provide any internship during graduation, but the students themselves find them. Many of them work as a research intern in their 3rd year. College provides internship during the postgraduation. Students intern in start-ups and big companies like American Express, PWC etc. The average? stipend is 2k- 15k. The training sessions are important as it gives practical exposure of the corporate sector.

Placement Experience :

Jadavpurians University has a placement cell. Usually the College provides placement after the post graduation, the companies are American Express, PWC, ITC, Wipro etc. Average pay package is 5-12 lpa.

College Events :

There are various events celebrated in JU annually, like the following:- 1. Ibtida (dance, drama, singing etc) 2. Young student Economics meet (YESM) 3. JU Model United Nations 4. Elixir (poetry and story writing competition)

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Since JU is a government institution, the fees is feasible. We had to give Rs 1200 for each year. While registering for the semester exams, the students have to pay exam fee of RS 60/- for all the papers. The tuition, library, lab fees are included in the admission fee itself. The students do not have to pay anything extra.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Since it is a government institution, the fees is very less and hence College does not provide any scholarship to Indian students. But it does provides scholarships to international students. The College also provides railway concession amount for students whose permanent address is outside kolkata.

Campus Life :

The College has various extracurriculars club like :- Dance club Drama club Singing club Debate and MUN'S club Mountaineering and hiking club Coding club Photography Club The labs are well maintained. There are various sports like Cricket Football College also has separate male and female cricket teams.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel infrastructure is good. It has all the basic facilities. Usually 3 students share a room. The rooms are big and airy. The fees is mere Rs 40/- for a month. The students have to pay extra for food. There are many Paying Guest houses available around the College campus. The rent ranges from 1k-6k a month. All the basic necessary things are available in and around the College campus.

Alumni/Alumna :

The alumni network is great. Prof Amartya Seen, the Bharat Ratna and Nobel Prize winner was the first Dean of Jadavpur University. Recently in a college event he was invited as a chief guest to address the students. Many of the seniors works in different MNC's. They are appraochable and friendly. The seniors try their best to help in Juniors in studies as well as extra curricular activities.

Exam Structure :

There are two semesters in each year. Exams are held at the end of each semester. Internals and class tests are also held at certain intervals. Generally, the internals are of 20 marks and the semester exams are of 30 marks for each paper. Grade cards are given at the end of each semester.

Admission :

I got admission in this college by applying online. You should have minimum of 75% marks in mathematics for applying. The cut-off changes every year. The merit list would be based on class 12th marks and there is no admission test or interview. You will be marked upon 400. Your marks would be generated as follows:- (2*marks in mathematics+ marks obtained in other two subjects) For general category ICSE and CBSE students, anything more than 95% would be sufficient for getting your name in the first merit list. After releasing the first merit list you would be called for admission procedure. The second merit list would be generated on the admission day itself. The second merit list is usually generated to fill up the vacant seats after the result of the first merit list. Since it is a government institution the cut off is low for OBC,SC,ST and PWD students. You will need to carry your school marksheet of class 10 and 12 and money receipt that you got while applying online, on the day of the admission. From the year 2018 Jadavpur University provides integrated BA and MA course in Economics, but the student can opt out of the university after graduation if he or she wishes to do so.

Faculty :

The faculty is nice and friendly. All of them hold a doctorate degree in various fields and are highly experienced in their respective fields. They encourage students to ask questions and also provides extra classes in their office hours. Corrections are linient. Scoring marks is easy with little efforts.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I've always liked psychology since the day i took the subject in class 11-12. I was very determined to persue psychology in my graduation as well as masters. The curriculum convinced me more to study this subject and know more about it. The curriculum involves all the aspects including it's applications in the real world. I personally don't think they should make much changes to the curriculum.

Course Curriculum Overview:

This curriculum is enriched with literature works by British and American writers which is really enjoyable to read and the Teachers make it more exciting. Teachers are really good at explaining every single point in the syllabus. In the history of literature part they give us notes about each and every write a and there works so that we are familiar with most of the part of our syllabus. They does not teach only for the exams but they make sure that we learn everything with depth. We have a semester exams in every 6 month but sometimes it becomes 7 or 5. But the teachers are really supportive so that we don't panic in our exams.

Placement Experience:

Training and placement cell complements the efforts of the members of faculty by organizing value-added programs and providing career counseling and placement opportunities to students. It acts as the major interface with the corporate sector and helps develop the industry-academia interrelationship. The cell organizes certain orientation programs, grooming sessions, mock interview sessions for students of each stream. Moreover, the cell organizes various summer internship programs for students to provide them with hands-on experience, thus introducing them to the professional environment. The cell continuously coordinates with various industries and organizations for the placement of students. It actively obtains feedback from organizations and conveys it to respective departments which, in turn, trains students accordingly, thereby increasing their employability. At Heritage, an all-out effort is made to groom the students for enhanced employability.

Admission:

I got affirmation in this university based on 10+2 marks. The base imprints expected to get a confirmation in this school is 50% in 10+2. To get affirmation, first, the up-and-comer needs to fill the structure. As I have done B.A. from this college, my affirmation depends on the legitimacy list.

Placement Experience:

The college gives great positions to the students. Numerous seniors from my seashore were put with acceptable compensation bundles. Numerous students likewise landed government positions. Likewise, a portion of the students got entry-level positions in all around rumoured firms. I also got an internship at this university. After that, I was placed in the same firm.

Remarks:

The postivie thing of our college is its Ambeince, Quality teachings, and being on of the oldest colleges in west bengal its a heritage to us and as a student i am proud to be a student of this college. In academic ways it clears all the basic and essential qualities needed in terms of studies which made it to be one of the top colleges in west bengal. The only negative thing according to me is that our canteen is open only for our professors not for us which is very unfair.

Remarks:

The College excels in providing a peaceful learning atmosphere where there is no brouhaha of the outside world and the teachers are superb. But , unfortunately, being a boys-only college, the girls can not have the excellent opportunities provided here. As an autonomous college, they should exercise their freedom more to the students' needs. The disciplinarian rigidity is extreme help, but it fires back sometimes. Otherwise, the college is a complete package for those who wants to really build their career and at the same time live a enjoyable hostel life. It is an experience indelible. Students are lucky and proud.

Entrance Preview:

There is no entrance exam conducted by the college. They publish a merit list and tech admission are done through this merit list.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum strictly follows the university guidelines. The curriculum is very tough and extreme time and energy has to be invested to be able to score moderately good. Pass subjects are another headache because you have to clear them too. So choose a moderately easy subject which you think you can handle.
