Review of MANIPAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

Remarks :

The positive remarks is that overall the college is good, the infrastructure is great. There are 80+ clubs including both technical and non technical where we are taught things outside the course curriculum. The biggest negative remark is drugs, alcohol. Though its not inside the college but its all around in Manipal.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is good. We have 7 tests per subject per semester comprising a total of 100 marks which includes 4 assignment of 5 marks each, 2 sessional of 15 marks and an end semester exam of 50 marks. For labs we have 10 labs 1 every week of 10 marks each whose total is reduced to 60 marks and then an end semester lab exam of 40 marks making it 100 marks in total.

Placement Experience :

Placement and job opportunities are provided to everyone but we get it or not practically depends on us. The number of companies coming every year are huge in numbers. So getting placed is not a deal until and unless you aren't capable of getting a job. Yes the college has a number of clubs whose tag line is to provide internship in any part of the country. As i am a first year student so I can't explain the overall experience and stipend.

College Events :

There are two major events: Tech Tatva and Revels. Tech Tatva is basically a technical fest where all the technical clubs come with different events like the robo wars held this year where different colleges were completing or like the code marathon and several other events and some fun technical games. Coming to Revels it is a cultural fest where different colleges compete in different events such as drama, singing, costume designing, public speaking and many more.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Its actually expensive at around 1.5 lakh per semester and going upto 2 lakh at the 8th semester. But ya the facilities, the infrastructure provided pretty better than most other private colleges like the one in vellore or BITS.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The scholarship is generally not provided by the college. Even the clubs are self made without any funding from the college side all of it comes from different workshop they organize or some projects that they do for government or some private company.

Campus Life :

The sports facilities are simply great. We have a indoor sports complex called Marena. Besides that we have 3 basket ball court, a football field, a cricket ground, 2 long tennis court, 2 badminton court and a running track. We have several events like the cross country race, inter MAHE tournaments, inter Section tournaments and many more.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel infrastructure is just simply great. I have seen the infrastructure of IITs or NITs and even of some private colleges like VIT and BITS but its far better than all of them. With all the basic facilities like attached wash room, choice of AC or Non AC room, common TV room, Table Tennis room. The rooms are even well furnished. I would surely give it a 9 out of 10.

Alumni/Alumna :

The alumni network with the biggest on being the CEO of Microsoft. There is a club for that we can gain experience from such alumnis where they interact with us, help us out in different problems faced b us and even in internship opportunities.

Admission :

At first there is a entrance test for college MET i.e. Manipal Entrance Test common for all MAHE Engineering college which is conducted around mid April. Based on the merit list we can choose our department and branch.

Faculty :

The faculty for computer department is great but when it comes to core branch like EEE or Mechanical the quality of faculty degrades like anything. For EEE most of the faculty are youngsters without much prior experience. Otherwise the overall faculty is good.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible to get placements from their 6th to 7th semester as whatever basic is needed by them to a company is embedded into them. Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Cisco, and many other companies visit our college and make many offers. The highest package in my course was 47 L.P.A previous year and average is 7 to 8 L.P.A. Almost all students get placed in our branch almost every year. I just wanna do a start-up after completion of my course and getting my degree.
