Dheeraj Yarlagadda's Review On Hindustan Institute Of Technology And Science - [HITS], Chennai

Course Curriculum Overview :

Not all good. I studied automobile engineering, whose curriculum is very disgusting. This is really annoying me when i started to apply for foreign universities for my masters. Everytime i get rejection due to ECTS issue.

Placement Experience :

Placements are really bad especially for core departments like mechanical, automobile, aeronautical, aerospace, electrical. Etc For cse students if they are talented and they arewithout arrears, they will get placed, provided they must know coding.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Feasible if you get scholarship. But it's very expensive without scholarship. Most of the students get scholarship but even though the fees is feasible, as the education and placements are not really good, it's waste.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Yeah they do provide scholarship.mostly they give admission to the students based on inter marks even if they don't write entrance exam. I joined with my inter marks. They even give scholarships according to percentage of marks scored by candidate in +2

Campus Life :

All labs and sports activities related things are good. Few of the lab equipment is inproper and they don't function for sure. They have to be repaired or replaced but they dont do that, as they don't care.

Hostel Facilities :

No, i have not opted for hostel, the student hostel inside university is not good and well maintained. So most students live outside in pgs. These days they built international hostel but that is too expensive.

Admission :

Based on Entrance exam but mostly they give admission to the students based on inter marks even if they don't write entrance exam. I joined with my inter marks. They even give scholarships according to percentage of marks scored by candidate in +2

Faculty :

Some of the staff members are really good in their respective field and the rest are very worst than one expect. The later didn't know anything as we know. They are very bad in knowledge, they won't prepare before coming to class.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements start in the 7th semester. Due to the recession, there is a lot of backlash when it comes to placements. It has been quite poor for the last few years. But it depends on how the student is prepared for the competitive world.

The Highest package is 9LPA. The percentage of college placement is 78 percent. I planned to make higher studies after my degree.

Placement Experience:

Placement is good for the CSE and IT departments. You can't expect placement if you belong to other departments, there is a placement for the other departments but very less. Campus placement starts in 3rd year itself. They have special classes for Aptitude skills and interview preparation GD and necessary preparations for job placement opportunities. 90% of students from CSE and IT get placed. The average package is 7.5 LPA you can expect a minimum of 3.5 LPA. If you are willing to go for higher studies you can contact the international relation office they have good relations with other universities abroad, they have students exchange programs, research scholarships etc if you are not planning to seat in placement. I plan for higher studies and research after my Btech.

Placement Experience:

The placements in my college is very good and top companies hire students across every branch with a good amount of package. At the end of 3rd year every student is elegible for the placements in college. About 20 to 25 companies visited for campus hiring and approximately 700 offers were given across the college from every branch. 60 percentage of students got placed in the campus hiring program. Highest package is 24 LPA and the aveyis 5LPA. My plan is to get into a good MNC company which is related to Aerospace technology.
