About my college

Remarks :

I don't have exactly positive or negatibe reviews about IIT Kharagpur but I am very happy that I am here learning new things everyday. Whether it's about helping each other or taking part in competetions IITs gave a lot of exposure on different things. You get to know about what's happening in different world and also IIT gave a base to learn new things.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Course curriculum mostly consist of theoretical part. That's one big issue. To clear JEE advanced many students just mug up the things. They are just worried about marks not about learning things. Course curriculum is right but the exam pattern should be changed. Exam paper contains multiple choice questions that can be single correct or multi correct. There are paragraphs also. There are some integer based questions and some Match the column questions are also there. Exam pattern is not same for every exam. It keep changing every year. There are two paper of JEE advanced, paper 1 and paper 2, there is a 2 hour gap between both the exams. For clearing exam you have to appear in both the paper.

Placement Experience :

Placements scenario is very good in IIT Kharagpur. IIT does provide internship opportunity to many students. Basically students need to apply for the internship. Mostly it's research based. Students have to send mail to different professors to get internship offer. I have not done any internship till now in my college as i am just a fresher right now but yeah internship opportunities are there.

College Events :

The two major events celebrated here are Spring fest(Cultural fest), Kshitiz(tech management fest). Kshitiz is known to Asia largest techno management fest. So many workshops are conducted during Kshitiz which help in building profiles in tech. So many competetion like robo war etc. It's a pool for tech. In spring fest so many bollywood stars come here, perform here, enjoy the culture of IIT Kgp. So many stand up comedies happen here. There are also competetion related to dancing, dramatics etc. From all over India people visit IIT Kharagpur to have fun in Spring fest.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fees structure is like two lakh tution fees, around 70 thousand hostel fees. But fees is variable for different students as if your family income is less than 1 lakh then tution fee is 0 ruppees. If income is between 1 to 5 lakh then tution fees is reduced to 33 % its value. There is also division of tution fees based on the category you belong to. If you are SC , ST then your tution fee is zero. Overall it's neither expensive nor flexible. It's moderate.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

As you have an IIT Tag. All the banks offered you loans. You can avail at 0% interest rate in SBI bank. There are so many scholarship that are given to students like MCM scholarship, Insipre Scholarship etc.

Campus Life :

IIT fully focuses on extracurricular activities. There are big big stadiums to practice sport. They conduct open IIT tournaments to enhance your extracurricular activities. There are inter IIT competetions also. Labs are very nice. All the Labs is occupied with new equipments.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel infrastructure is not up to mark. We have to share our room with two other people. There's no AC no cooler in our room. There are no wardrobes on the shelves. They just provide us with one bed, one table, one chair and one shelf(with atmost 4 compartments). But the cost of living in hostel is very cheaper. There is 24x7 lights faciltiy. There's water cooler at every floor. There are geysers at every floor. I will rate 4 out of 5 stars to hostel infrastructure.

Alumni/Alumna :

Alumni network of IIT Kharagpur is very big as this is the biggest IIT in India. There are currently around 10,000 students including UG, PG, research scholars. Seniors are very helpful as if you ask them about anything they'll help you out whether they know it or not. Whether it's making CV or helping in competetions they are most helpful.

Admission :

JEE advanced is the entrance examination to get addmission in one of the prestigious colleges in India which is IIT. I cleared JEE advanced in 2018 getting a AIR 6198, Through which I got Mining Engineering Department. Currently my department is Industrial and Systems Engineering.

Faculty :

College faculty is very good. All the professors here have done PhD from renowned universities. They have work a lot in their research area but the main problem they are not good teachers as compared to their qualification. They might know many things but they don't know how to properly deliver the content to the students which led to students disliking them.

Course Curriculum Overview:

B.Tech in CSE is future proof and a very good course for IT sector jobs and I was always excited working in these companies, that's why I choose the course. There are 10-12 faculties present in every department. Each faculty is M.Tech qualified and Drs. Their teaching quality is very good. 4 internal theory and 2 Lab exams happen each semester. The questions are standard, regular, and sincere students can easily pass.
