My brother was in the CSE branch of NIT Trichy and based on his experience, here are a few pointers:
You won’t ever regret choosing NIT CSE.
NIT Raipur is a very good college and currently ranks at 67 in NIRF ranking among the top engineering institutes in India. And if you are a good student then maybe you can even get the CS branch as well.
Placements
However, if you want to pursue M.Tech in a good college, study well and sit for GATE instead. The department of Metallurgy is famous at NIT Raipur and can help you in getting good scores.
I would like you to consider certain important things before making your decision-
According to me your college will last for 4 years. However, your branch will become an intrinsic part of your personality and profession. Unless you have an interest in Metallurgy or a good chance at sliding to another branch, choose CSE at NIT Durgapur.
IIT Roorkee, NIT Trichy, and NIT Warangal are well-established institutes in India. The scope of metallurgy is comparatively lower than that of CSE. IIT Roorkee mainly concentrates on textual learning and does not give the students exposure to practical learning. They are using the practice of mugging up the lessons without having a clear understanding of the topic. The placement is very poor here; the students from the metallurgy department usually end up in data analytics and coding.
So CSE at NIT Warangal and Trichy would be a better choice.
BIT Sindri has one of the highest placement records of metallurgy in the college. The discussion below will give you an idea about the Metallurgy branch at BIT Sindri.

The required cutoff for metallurgy in BITS is 800 rank in the general category. Therefore, it is a decent option for metallurgy. If you are thinking of joining the BIT Sindri Metallurgy branch, then you must go for it.
You need to compare various aspects of both the institutes to reach a fair decision. The parameters that you should consider for comparing are as follows.
If you see the course structure and specialization, BHU is the oldest center of study for Metallurgical Engineering hence has loads of data available. But on other hand, less data is available for Material Science at IIT Gandhinagar as it is a growing discipline in the Meta field.
Academics: (Winning Institute - IIT BHU)
Here is the list of subjects for Metallurgy at IIT BHU with the first 5 being the core subjects:

Now coming to the facilities, IIT BHU offers you a long list of facilities for this particular program which are:
Faculty:
The faculty at both the institutes are quite good, to know more about the faculty you can visit their official websites:

Now, coming to the placements, both the institutes offer moderate placements in these fields. Most of the students switch to Ph.D. from India as well as in international institutes.
All in all, it depends on your interest and goals. So, make such decisions carefully.
NIT Raipur placements are good for Metallurgical Engineering. Here are the recent placement highlights of the branch.

Students also get placed in non-core companies. Some of the major recruiters from the non-core sector are Morgan Chase, Amazon, Samsung, Wipro, Siemens, Adobe, etc.
The Metallurgy Department of IIT BHU is one of the oldest engineering departments. It started in 1923 and in the year 2023, it will be a century old. Through all these years, the department has produced fine metallurgists. The laboratories of the Metallurgy Department are well equipped. The National Electron Microscope Facility (NELMIF) was established here in 1982. If one wants to have a core job or wants to go to the research field, there are many opportunities at IIT BHU. For the passing batch of 2019, a total of 72 students from Metallurgical Engineering got placed. The average salary was 8.19 LPA. Some of the core sector recruiters were:
Some recruiters among the non-core firms were:
IIT BHU has lots of opportunities for those who want to do research in the future. The members of staff have been engaged in many research projects. Being one of the oldest colleges, it has a huge network of alumni who can also guide one's path. So, metallurgical engineering from IIT BHU is a quite good choice.
IIEST Shibpur is better than BITS Sindri. Academics, placements, exposure, in terms of, all these factors it is well ahead. But you should give more priority to your choice of course while choosing one of these institutes.
Architecture and Metallurgy are two entirely separate branches. According to the recent highlights, BIT Sindri placements for Metallurgy are better. The highest and average CTC for the branch is INR 10.11 LPA and INR 4.76 LPA, respectively.
Metallurgy in BIT SINDRI is one of the best courses offered there. Metallurgy is the most soughed branch students tend to choose. Metallurgy from BIT SINDRI is well known because of the following reasons.

There is a saying among students of the institute i.e. ‘metal is settled’ which means you can definitely get good placement opportunities if you work for it.
