Placements in IIT BHU are excellent. The basic salary range for the academic years 2020-21 and 2019-20 were INR 11.50-64.26 LPA, and INR 10-58.21 LPA, respectively. 

The first phase of the 2022 placement drive has been already completed. Students received a total of 1185 placement offers. 35 students got international placements. UBER offered the highest CTC of 2.05 CPA. While UiPath offered the highest domestic CTC of INR 78 LPA to 2 students.

IIT BHU (Varanasi) is one of the premier institutions of the country. It has been placed in the 11th position by NIRF Rankings in 2019. Although It does not have great infrastructure, it more than makes up for that with a 100-year alumni network and great placements. Usually, IIT BHU is at par with placements of other top IITs. It has a history of getting top placements since it was converted to an IIT, in the year 2012.

The number of PPO’s (Pre-placement Offers) this year was 152, which were received on the basis of the summer internships which the students completed. Out of these, 129 PPO offers were accepted by the students. Circuital branches i.e. Computer Science & Engineering, Mathematics and Computing, Electronics Engineering, and Electrical Engineering are all placed in the first couple of days for the past few years. There were 11 international offers from Microsoft International, Uber, Deskera, Works Applications, and Yokogawa Electric. A wide array of companies come to recruit every year - from big tech giants to new startups, from e-commerce to delivery management systems, from fin-tech to data analysts, from industrial companies to raw material production houses. 

The highest international package of 1.54 crores (CTC) was offered by Microsoft (to 4 students). The highest domestic package was 62 lakhs (CTC) crores. A total of 772 students were placed in the first phase i.e. the initial 10 days of the placement process. An additional 50+ students got placed in the 2nd phase before it was interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic. The mean CTC offered to the students is close to 18 LPA(INR). 

Students get employed for various job profiles, such as - SDE-1, Data Analyst, Consulting, Business Analyst, Industrial/Core, and Education. 

Last year placement percentages in various branches were- CSE - 100%, ECE - 100%, EEE - 100%, MECH - 83%, CIV - 74%, CHE - 73%, CER - 72%, MET - 70%, MIN - 67% and PHE - 66%. For applied branches the placement percentages were - MNC (Mathematics & Computing) - 100%, IC (Industrial Chemistry) - 93%, SMST (Material Science & Technology) - 72%, BME (Bio-Medical Engineering) - 70%, BCE (Bio-Chemical Engineering ) - 62%, EP (Engineering Physics) - 53%.
