After doing some research online regarding this, I found out that if you are repeating a specific subject and you have the highest score in that subject, then you are not eligible for the Gold Medal.

If you are from an odd-numbered batch or a batch with six months back and you score the highest in a particular subject, which you are not repeating, then you are eligible for the Gold Medal.

But most of the time only regular students can get a gold medal for scoring the highest marks in a particular subject or get the highest score in an academic year.
