Out of my personal experience, I can assure you that IIT Roorkee is a great choice for your M.Tech CSE in terms of opportunities, faculty, academics, and placements.

IIT Hyderabad is a new IIT while IIIT Hyderabad is a prestigious institution that is often compared to old IITs like IIT Bombay. Joining IIT Hyderabad just for the tag is not justified as the quality of education, ambiance, and opportunities offered by IIIT Hyderabad are great.

On the flip side, IIIT Hyderabad has a very dull campus life as everything is about academics here. If you are passionate about a career in the IT Sector to the point that you are ready to sacrifice your college life then IIIT-H is the best place for you. The placements are at par with BUTS and IIT BHU.

However, if you have no interest in CSE, IIIT Hyderabad isn’t a good choice for you. It does not have consults and banks for placements and neither are management roles offered. The small batch size and monotonous campus life is a major drawback here.

Among these IIT Hyderabad is the best option for pursuing an MTech CSE. It offers a better environment, quality education, and amazing research culture. According to the highlights of IIIT Hyderabad MTech placements 2021, the average CTC offered for the CSE department was INR 23 LPA.

Due to these factors, IIIT Hyderabad is better than new IITs like IIT Roorkee and IIT Hyderabad, for CSE.

IIT Roorkee ranks 8th for engineering by NIRF while IIIT Hyderabad is ranked 43rd by NIRF and IIT Hyderabad 17th. IIT roorkee is one of the oldest institutions in the country and has a brand value for excellence in academics. But as per recommendations provided by the US National Science Foundation, IIIT-H is the premier research institute in India for computer science engineering studies.

It is very tough to distinguish between these colleges as these are premier institutes of the nation. Infrastructurally they are almost at par with all facilities available. Faculties are highly qualified, few being involved in many government funded research projects.
