There are various reasons that one should opt for or can consider getting into Adams University, Kolkata in the civil department because of the reasons mentioned below: -

Faculty:

• It has Environmental engineering lab, Transportation lab, fluid mechanic lab, soil mechanics lab, geology lab and Ac class rooms.

• The university also has a CDC cell, which helps students to enhance their technical and soft skills /communication skills and helps them to get placements. 
• The cell also trains individuals for placements.

Curriculum: 

• The best part is the curriculum is designed in such a way it meets the industry demands as well as practical applications of each subject. 
• The curriculum gets changed every year and it is very flexible and especially incorporated for the students. 
• There aren’t many colleges that offer M. Tech therefore, this college has the best resources to provide to its students.

Placements

Also, for masters Adams University, Kolkata is the only university in Kolkata that offers M.Tech in Environmental Engineering and Structural Engineering. Therefore, one should definitely choose this university as the university is growing and suitable for the civil department course.

Out of the two branches, Civil Engineering from CUSAT is the better choice. The following reasons will justify the choice.

• The median package offered by the branch is INR 4.5 LPA.
• The branch has a cut-off of 2313, i.e., quality people get admitted.

• The Civil Department has excellent and experienced faculty. They provide quality learning to their students.

• The campus is vast, spread across 180 acres. You can enjoy life with academics.

• There are extra-curricular and practical learning opportunities throughout the years.

• The curriculum followed by CUSAT is quite decent and well-framed. It is considered to be more rigid than other universities. But it is not very difficult to grasp if you put in hard work.

The placements of both the branches are bad. Civil Engineering packages are not excellent across India, but CUSAT is a preferred choice.Civil Engineering is decent for the students if they want to work in core companies. However, if you are choosing EEE, then you can appear for civil services examinations and a job guarantee will be there.

The answer to this question depends on what you aim for after 4 or 5 years of your college degree. If you just want a placement and not particularly interested in a branch then you could go for any of those two branches as placement statistics are good for both in IIT BHU. There are enough opportunities in the non-core sector which generally comprise IT, developer, analytics, product management, business analyst, etc. These sectors don't look for a specific branch and rather require good communication and analytical skills. 

Coming to the core sectors, both civil and chemical provide diverse opportunities in these areas. If you are someone who finds chemical processing and chemistry interesting, then go for chemical engineering. If you are the one who gets amazed by the interesting and defying structures, civil engineering should be your choice. According to 2019 placement statistics, 77 students from Civil Engineering and 104 students from Chemical Engineering got placed from IIT BHU.

Opting for civil engineering would open doors to exams such as IES, UPSC, GATE, and other state engineering exams. There are ample opportunities for civil engineering majors. And if you choose chemical engineering, you can go for higher studies or work for PSUs. So, both these branches at IIT BHU would provide enough opportunities to grow and explore and the end decision should be based on your interest.
