Should I join NLSIU at age 20 for the five-year course?

AS

BA LLB (Hons) in Law & Humanities ,Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University (2017)

National Law School of India University (NLSIU),Bangaloreis often considered the best law college in this country. It would be advised to you that even if you get this college at the age of 20 you should just go for it. There should not be any age bar for learning and achieving anything.

Bachelors of Arts + Bachelor of Law (BALLB) is a five-year program and the students are admitted on the basis of score in CLAT.

It is highly advised that if you have not got into any college yet and is having second thoughts about taking a second-year drop, you should avoid doing that if you have a decent alternative law school.

Is 7 months of preparation enough to get admission in NLSIU? What is a book list for all subjects?

DP

Without any doubt, 7 months are enough for the preparation of CLAT, but it depends totally upon the hard work and efforts that you are going to put. You should refer to some original books instead of the coaching material solely.

For English, you can refer to banking books and WPM, for Maths and Logical Reasoning refer to CAT preparation books. Read newspaper daily for a comprehensive General Knowledge. For Legal refer to the coaching material or some legal guides from Amazon.

Thus, by studying from the books mentioned above you can score quite well in your exam.

Is there any age limit for pursuing a BA LLB 5-year course in NLSIU, Bangalore?

MA
Maya Agarwal Posted On : September 28th, 2021
Studied at NLSIU Bangalore (2019)

After doing some research online, I found out that there is no age limit in getting admission to this course.

There are two options to pursue the course:

  • BA LLB (5-year course)
  • LLB (3-year course)

For a three-year course, the minimum eligibility is 45 to 60%. For a five-year course, the minimum eligibility is 45% to 60% for the general category and 40 % for the reserved categories.

Candidates will be selected based on their merit. This will include the marks obtained in the CLAT exam.

There is no age limit for appearing in CLAT and getting into NLSIU. However, one must meet the CLAT eligibility criterion.

CLAT UG Eligibility

  • Age limit: There is no such upper age limit for the UG program in CLAT.
  • Qualifying Examination: Passed 10+2 or equivalent exam from a recognized board or university.
  • Academic score: Aggregate of 45% marks in 10+2 belonging to unreserved/OBC/specially-abled person (SAP) and other categories. It is 40% for SC or ST categories.
  • Appearing candidate: If you are appearing in the qualifying exam in March or April, you will also be eligible for appearing in CLAT. You shall be required to produce proof of the passing of your qualifying examination at the time of admission, failing which you might lose your right to be considered for admission.

CLAT PG Eligibility

  • Age limit: There is no upper age limit prescribed for appearing in CLAT.
  • Qualifying Exam: Passed in the qualifying examination i.e. LL.B or any other equivalent exam.

Previously, there was a minimum age limit of 16 but no maximum age limit. Now there is a no age bar criterion for CLAT examination, according to the Supreme Court.

What should be my daily routine if I want to get into NLSIU 2022?

AT
Asha Tiwari Posted On : September 17th, 2021
BA.LL.B (H) from Teerthanker Mahaveer Institute of Management and Technology (2018)

One of my friends graduated from NLSIU and here are the things I got to know from him. It could be considerably tough and you might not get what you expect.

  • The minimum and sufficient time for preparing for CLAT, for getting admission to NLSIU Bangalore are 5 months.
  • If you receive proper guidance and are focused, you can score well in the legal aptitude and the GK section.
  • You should get 35 to 38 out of 50 in legal aptitude and 40 to 45 in GK.
  • In the GK portion, 30 to 40 questions are there relating to current affairs.
  • For math 10 to 12 out of 20 is good enough.
  • Solve previous years' papers, to get an idea about your strengths and weaknesses.
  • You can look upon some compendium of the coaching like CLAT possible or Career launcher.
  • Solve the career launcher questions for CLAT that will be helpful.

The most important thing is to know the syllabus. Then go through the current affairs. Solve the maths portion from the previous paper.

Don't read GK from Lucent, Arihant, and don't read history. In legal aptitude, the most important thing is the previous year's question.

It is easy to crack the NLSIU with class 12th. What preparation should I do for cracking it?

12th standard is a good time to start preparing for Law examinations. Rather than targeting NLSIU or CLAT, you should focus on learning all concepts tested for law examination selection. Adopt a well-structured learn-practice-test approach.

Focus on clearing your concepts first. Once you are through, solve different Q types and take CLAT mocks. Analyze the mocks thoroughly. This will help you improve your score.

Is it necessary to read too many bulky books for the CLAT if I am aiming for NLSIU?

AB
Aditi Bhattacharjee Posted On : April 6th, 2023
National Law School of India University, Bangalore

CLAT is an entrance examination conducted for admission to various NLUs in India, including the NLSIU in Bangalore, which is widely regarded as the top law school in the country. While it is important to prepare thoroughly for the CLAT, it is not necessary to read too many bulky books if you are aiming for NLSIU specifically. Here's why:

  • CLAT syllabus: It includes topics such as English comprehension, general knowledge, current affairs, legal reasoning, logical reasoning, and quantitative techniques. Keep a clear understanding of these topics and practice solving questions from previous years' papers and mock tests. There is no need to read too many bulky books as the questions are based on fundamental concepts.
  • Time management: CLAT is a time-bound exam, and it is important to manage your time effectively during the exam. This means that you need to practice solving questions quickly and accurately. Instead of reading too many bulky books, focus on practicing questions and improving your speed and accuracy.
  • Quality over quantity: It is not necessary to read too many books for CLAT preparation. Rather, it is important to choose high-quality study materials that cover important topics thoroughly. It is better to read a few good books that cover the syllabus comprehensively than to read too many books that may not be relevant to the exam.
  • NLSIU-specific preparation: If your aim is to get admission to NLSIU specifically, it is important to focus on the areas that are given more weightage in the admission process. For example, NLSIU places a higher weightage on the legal reasoning section of CLAT. Therefore, it is important to practice and master this section to increase your chances of getting admission.

It is not necessary to read too many bulky books for the CLAT if you are aiming for NLSIU specifically. Rather, focus on the syllabus, practice solving questions, manage your time effectively, and choose high-quality study materials that cover the important topics thoroughly.

If I get enough marks in clat2021 to get admission in the NLSIU Bangalore but my first preference is the RMNLU Lucknow can I get admission in the NSLIU (second preference)?

AA
Aradhya Apte Posted On : September 14th, 2021
B.B.A L.L.B at National Law School of India University (NLSIU) (2020)

Since your first preference was RMNLU, and if your scores match up to the criteria followed by the institute, then it is likely that you will secure a seat at RML. The seats at NLSIU also partially are considered important as well.

The counseling (also known as the seat allotment process) is patterned in a way that students secure seats as per their preferred choice. NLSIU is a highly sought-after institute and it is the first preference for many students.

Now, there are around 80 seats available at NLSIU including the seats for reserve category students. So, if your rank is within AIR 80~85, there is a good chance that you will secure a seat at NLSIU.

However, if you have an AIR of around 65 and keep NLSIU as your 2nd preference then you will certainly get RMNLU and will be out of the race for NLSIU.
