If you are looking for a high-paying package around 10-14 LPA, you need to consider your future perspectives first. As an ECE student here are some career options you can opt for

One should look for a balance between salary and work culture. I will suggest you prepare for the MNC industries of Silicon Valley (Private Core Sector), i.e. Qualcomm, Intel, etc. This is the best choice for an ECE student where you will learn and work with great minds. They offer lucrative packages too. Here is how you can prepare for such companies

To prepare for your interviews, one needs to have deep knowledge of whatever you study for your end-semester examinations.

  • Private Core Sector: This is the most challenging option and the salary package varies from company to company. You will have to work extra hard to excel here.
  • IT sector:  India is one of the biggest hubs of IT industries in the world, and you have immense opportunities in this sector. The salary packages offered by IT companies are also quite good.
  • PSUs:  First you will have to prepare for GATE. The government sector offers excellent packages with many additional benefits but your development rate here is nill. If money is your only concern then this one is for you.
  • Finance/Stock/Management: Go for these options if you have an interest in these fields.
  • Inculcate excellent Programming skills not for just coding jobs but also for learning machine language and the concepts of the origin of coding
  • Master the designing of Analog and Digital circuits
  • Learn the Architecture of Computer, Microprocessors, and Microcontrollers.
  • Understand VLSI thoroughly as it is the most important thing to design electronics circuits and is mostly asked in interviews
  • Attend the Robotics workshop and competitions, it will enhance your practical knowledge.
  • Try to get internships/projects related to such fields. You can always check and drop mail into the career section of the company’s website.
  • Maintain good grades because that is how companies shortlist you.

To prepare for your interviews, one needs to have deep knowledge of whatever you study for your end-semester examinations.

Which is better NIT Goa or NIT Jamshedpur?

HB
Hiya Bose Posted On : April 23rd, 2021
Studied at NIT Jamshedpur

NIT Jamshedpur is a better institute than NIT Goa, here’s why.

  • Placements: The placements of NIT Jamshedpur are better than most of the NITs including NIT Goa, and companies like Amazon, BPCL, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Oracle, Samsung are the major recruiters here. The average package offered here is more than 6 LPA. It is the only NIT where many PSUs visit, that doesn’t even visit the top IITs.
  • Hostel: The hostels are fabulous and are one of the finest hostels as it is better than some of the IITs. The rooms are big in size with all the modern facilities available for the students including a lift inside the hostel building.
  • Academics: There is no requirement of maintaining minimum attendance so that you can both attend your classes and invest time in improving your skills and knowledge and learning new things.
  • Extracurricular: The society of Automobile teams is great.

These are some of the primary reasons why NIT Jamshedpur is better than NIT Goa.

Which is the best department at NIT Jamshedpur?

AD
Arushi Debnath Posted On : May 3rd, 2021
Studied at National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur.

The branch preferences at any institute completely depend on your interest.

Additionally, if you want to know the placement facts, then Electronics and Computer Science are the best. These two engineering branches are flourishing in these days of globalization. Except for Mechanical Engineering, the other core engineering branches are completely down.

The fact is that the placement totally depends on the recent trend of the industry. The situation is entirely reversible as core sectors are down while IT companies are blooming.

All the branches of NIT Jamshedpur are good enough, considering the industry perspectives, which is quite important to choose the companies at the time of placement.

For CSE, which NIT should I choose between NIT, Jamshedpur, and SVNIT, Surat? Why? Jharkhand is my home state and I live in Jamshedpur.

AR
Aditi Roy Posted On : September 4th, 2023
lives in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India

I have friends in all the 3 NITs and here are some points that I concluded while having a conversation with them

  • SVNIT vs. NIT Jamshedpur: In terms of reputation among recruiters and society in general, SVNIT is a far better choice. NIT Jamshedpur although provides the NIT tag, still lacks a lot in terms of infrastructure and the official rankings are a testament to that.
  • NIT Jamshedpur vs. NIT Surat: NIT Jamshedpur has witnessed exponential growth in the placement statistics over the past few years. Some have joined Work Applications in Singapore and Japan while some got a place in Amazon with a 20+ lacs package. NIT Surat also has a similar placement scenario so taking CSE at either NITs will offer similar job opportunities.

Hope you make a wise decision after considering all the points.

What are the drawbacks of NIT Jamshedpur?

SS
Saurabh Seth Posted On : September 4th, 2023
B.Tech from National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur (2020)

Here are a few drawbacks of NIT Jamshedpur that the ex-students talk about

  • Infrastructure: The reason NIT Jamshedpur is so poorly ranked is because of its poor infrastructure. However, the infrastructure is improving constantly and this can be reflected in the newly constructed Mega Hostels that provide single rooms to students. Other new facilities are being implemented.
  • Location: Jamshedpur faces major location disadvantages due to the lack of air connectivity. Most recruiters refrain from visiting the campus because of these transport issues. However, an inactive airport here Sonari is rumored to start operating again. again.
  • Attendance Policy: Although the institute has a policy of 75% attendance, students do not follow it and skip classes frequently. However, the new director has implemented strictness in this matter and now even last year students attend classes regularly.

So it can be concluded that most drawbacks of NIT Jamshedpur are being addressed and none of them hamper the academics to the point the institute's credibility needs to be questioned.

For civil engineering, what should be my preference order, NIT Agartala, NIT Jamshedpur, or BIT Mesra?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : August 17th, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

All the three colleges are good. However, according to me, NIT JSR and BIT Mesra are better than NIT Agartala. For a core Engineering branch though, NIT JSR is a better choice over BIT Mesra. So your preference order for Civil should be NIT JSR> BIT Mesra> NIT Agartala.

Here are a few comparison points between NIT JSR and BIT Mesra to helTithi agp you choose between the two-

  1. Academic Infrastructure- The infrastructure at BIT Mesra is better than NIT JSR. However, NIT JSR has a new academic building and the old academic building underwent renovation some time back.
  2. Hostel Infrastructure- The hostel infrastructure of NIT JSR is much superior with the rooms and galleries in very good condition.
  3. Placements- For core branches, the placements are a bit better at NIT JSR.
  4. The teacher-student ratio is better at BIT Mesra.
  5. BIT Mesra is a private college, so the maintenance of campus, classrooms, etc. is much better. However, its semester fees are much higher than NIT JSR.
  6. NIT JSR carries the ‘NIT’ tag which holds value if you go for your higher studies, and may also open more job opportunities for you.
  7. For CAT, UPSC, IES, GATE, etc. aspirants, NIT JSR has a lesser attendance pressure and allows more free time that you can then use for your preparation.
  8. Curriculum load- The curriculum load is more at BIT Mesra than NIT JSR.
  9. The girls:boys student ratio is better at BIT Mesra.
  10. The study environment is almost the same at both.

BIT Mesra is a better option for CSE. However, for a core branch, NIT JSR is a better choice. My brother chose Civil at NIT JSR over Civil at BIT Mesra and he did not regret his decision. Also, never choose an institution based off of NIRF rankings because they consider many factors, and many of them are irrelevant for you.
