My sister studied MCA at CUSAT which was an overwhelming experience for her, as after returning to her hometown she was scared that the course was too advanced for her and she will require to take more classes to improve in it.

The MCA degree program is a three-year program that is taught across 6 semesters. Let us have a look at some of the main features of this program.

Curriculum:

NIET, Greater Noida offers a three-year full-time degree program in MCA that is accredited by NAAC with a Grade ‘A’. It observes a placement rate of nearly 65% and observes top companies like Amazon, Cognizant, and Earth Infra for recruitments.

• Fees: The MCA program at NIET costs about 3.03 lakh in total. It has a maximum limit of 60 seats annually, with 27 seats reserved for students applying through the management quota.

Overall NIET is a great college for pursuing MCA given that it is highly accredited and has some of the best faculty. The placement record and course structure is another important factor as to why it offers a great MCA degree program. It also offers lateral entry to students which makes for a 2-year course with a total of 180 seats and a tuition fee of 2.02 lakh.

One of my cousins graduated from NIT Trichy and having read online reviews of the alumni here are some things that you should know. 

• There are no special criteria for MCA students. It is the same as that of B.Tech and M.Tech
• Sometimes the required academic score is greater than 7 CGPA, but it depends on company policies.
• Your overall academic record can also be beneficial if considered, though it is not mandatory.
• A lot of the time almost full batches without any backlogs are eligible for placements.
• The placement percentage is 90 to 95%. Students are offered an average salary of INR 12 LPA.
• Top roles like software developer, software engineer, and data analyst are offered to the students by leading IT companies.

The top recruiting companies like Microsoft, Flipkart, DE Shaw, Amazon, Uber, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Amdocs, CT Corp, etc. visit the NIT Trichy campus during their placements.

It will be better if you prepare for NIMCET because the condition of MCA is not so good in IET Lucknow. One of my friends pursued an MCA course at IET Lucknow and here’s what he has to share about it -

• The faculty team at IET Lucknow allotted to the MCA course are mostly guest faculties and they are not good enough to complete the whole syllabus.
• Placement is also not very good and only 4 to 5 companies allow MCA students to sit in the campus drive every year.
• Only some students are recruited through on-campus placements.

It is suggested that you should try for better options as well. However, make sure you choose wisely as this will decide your career path.
