M.B.B.S. at Armed Forces Medical College, Pune (2018-present)

AIIMS Raipur is already a leading figure in the field of medical education. This is a result of its top-notch infrastructure and elaborate teaching methods. It satisfies modern-day demands and your life will completely change if you opt for this college to pursue an MBBS. I have enumerated some points to convince you of the same:

  • You will be spending your first year at the Kabir Nagar Campus. This campus has lush green surroundings with a very clean environment. You will love your time here.

  • The hostel facilities are remarkable. Boys get a 2BHK flat with 3 boys in a flat whereas girls get a 3 BHK flat with 5 girls in a flat.

  • The college building comprises 3 floors with all the facilities you need to become a good medical student.

  • The hygiene here is notable.

  • AIIMS offers excellent sports facilities like an indoor badminton court, volleyball (outdoor) basketball, 3–4 tables for table tennis, a football/cricket ground, and a mat for kabaddi.

  • The annual fest Oriana is the cherry on top. You will have a once-in-a-lifetime experience here.

So yes, your life will definitely change for the better if you opt for this college.

What are the pros and cons of doing an MBBS from VMMC?

NT
Nivedita Trivedi Posted On : September 25th, 2023
Studied at VMMC Delhi

The truth is I couldn't find a single con of joining VMMC for MBBS. That being said, there are a number of pros of doing an MBBS from VMMC. A few have been listed below

  • UG: PG ratio is great. This can further be understood through the following analogy. For MD Medicine, a general category student needs less than 9000 rank via IPU Quota but for MAMC, you need 300 AIR for the same subject via DU quota.
  • The institute has some of the most educated and experienced professors, the most famous being Dr. Chintamani, a big shot in surgery.
  • VMMC is also famous for its Central Institute of Orthopedics and its amazing Sports Injury Centre
  • They recently built the new SuperSpeciality block and the new Emergency block. The infrastructure is state-of-the-art, even better than many private hospitals.
  • The crowd of students is extremely passionate and is driven by their desire to excel in the field.

You will have an amazing life here both academically and non-academically.

Students usually receive a stipend of around INR 26K per month . Once they complete the internship, they can join a hospital as an MBBS doctor. The starting pay is around 1 Lakh per month. What is the environment like for doing an MBBS in NEIGRIHMS, in Shillong? How's the study environment? Is it worth it to study there?

NEIGRIHMS is a central institute. It is the cleanest medical college in India. It has a good infrastructure which includes a cancer hospital and a state-of-the-art sports ground. The college auditorium is really impressive, and it has state-of-the-art lecture halls.

NEIGRIHMS offers all the basic amenities to its MBBS students. You’ll get more lectures and clinical postings than most state colleges. The patient load is high and they come with a variety of ailments. So you’ll get good clinical exposure. The faculty is friendly and dedicated. You can easily approach the teachers and residents for doubt-solving.

The mess food isn’t good. Also, the hostels near RMO aren’t in very good condition. These are two main drawbacks of the institute.

Overall, NEIGRIHMS is a good college for pursuing your MBBS.

Why must we do a two-year bond service as an all-India open category MBBS candidate in CMC Vellore?

BA
Bashir Ahmed Posted On : May 3rd, 2024
MBBS from CMC Vellore (2017 batch)

Though a 2-year bond may seem undesirable for an MBBS student at CMC Vellore, it is quite fair. AFMC has in place a 7-year bond period. In addition to this, several state medical colleges have a bond period as well.

I completed a 2 year bond period after my MBBS from CMC Vellore in 2017. The bond period is a great time for learning. It transformed a fresh MBBS graduate like me into a clinician/surgeon. It is the perfect time to decide on MD specialization

During my bond period, I worked for 2 years in a secondary hospital where the patient profiles were very diverse. The hospital I worked at receives patients with MIs, DKA, Strokes, PUOs, CKD, RTAs with polytrauma and head injuries, etc.

By the end of my bond period, I had received so much exposure that I knew which PG specialization I wanted to opt for. It is much better than sitting at home and mugging books. Practical knowledge is essential in the field of medicine.

My experience has helped shape me as a clinician. Thus, I would suggest you do not regret choosing CMC Vellore because of the 2-year bond period.

Which is better for MBBS: KMC Manipal or GSVM Kanpur?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : September 28th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

KMC Manipal has an excellent crowd contrary to the general perception. Here, you need brains and not money to get admission. The admissions are based on merits so the quality of the crowd is not compromised at all. Only about 10% of the batch are NEI students or those with Indian ethnicity but are not citizens of this country WHO had to pay to get their seats. There are no management seats at all. The truth is that the number of meritorious students in government colleges is actually less because they have reservations for backward classes while private colleges do not.

So, go for KMC Manipal!

Is it possible to get a seat for PG at AIIMS Delhi in radiology for a doctor who got an MBBS degree from PGIMS Rohtak or another state medical college?

SK

Yes, it is possible to get a seat for a postgraduate (PG) program at AIIMS Delhi, in radiology. But is highly competitive and typically requires candidates to meet specific eligibility criteria and pass an entrance examination. AIIMS Delhi generally admits candidates from across India, including those who have obtained their MBBS degrees from state medical colleges like PGIMS Rohtak or other institutions.

  • Eligibility: To be eligible for AIIMS PG courses, candidates are generally required to have a recognized MBBS degree from a university recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or the National Medical Commission (NMC).
  • Entrance Examination: Admission to AIIMS PG courses, including radiology, is primarily based on performance in the AIIMS PG Entrance Examination (AIIMS PGEE). AIIMS conducts an entrance exam every 6 months for entry into its MD, MS courses. You can regularly visit the Collegedunia website or exam portal of AIIMS to check for all the details regarding exam pattern, eligibility, seat distribution, registration for the exam, and other details.
  • Reservation: Although internal applicants (those who pursued their MBBS at AIIMS) typically receive 50% of the PG seats at AIIMS, outsider candidates do have a chance.
  • Counselling Process: Successful candidates in the AIIMS PGEE are called for counselling, where you can select your desired specialty and institute based on their rank and availability of seats.

Is Jaipur National University good for an MBBS?

RD
Raya Das Posted On : October 22nd, 2021
MBBS from Jaipur National University (2021)

It is a well-known fact that each and every college has its good and bad side. The same goes for Jaipur National University. Though it is a good college, let me discuss some pros and cons of the college, which will help you understand it better.

Here are some of the points that will give you an idea about the MBBS course here.

PROS:

  • The institute has a really good infrastructure.
  • There are plenty of cadavers for practical training.
  • The faculty is really encouraging. They try to make their teaching methods better by giving importance to the students' feedback.
  • The labs and classrooms are well equipped with modern and updated instruments.
  • The hostel is good and the management is cooperative enough.
  • There is a strict no ragging policy, which everyone abides by.

CONS:

  • The course is a bit new, is less popular among students, which could incline to the negative side.
  • The hospital has a nice infrastructure and staff but is located on the outskirts few people tend to visit it.
  • Being located on the outskirts, traveling becomes time-consuming and costly if you are living in the city.

The teaching process is really good here, as most of the faculty members are highly experienced, with years of educational experience. It is suggested that if you are unable to get admission to any Government colleges, you could then go to Jaipur National University.

Its "Teaching, Learning, and Resources," "Research and Professional Practises," "Graduation Outcomes," "Outreach and Inclusivity," and "Perception" are all reflected in this.
