Which is better: IT or chemical engineering at HBTI, Kanpur, or CS (or any other branch) at IET, Lucknow or BIET, Jhansi or KNIT, Sultanpur?

HG
Himanshu Gupta Posted On : February 16th, 2021
B.Tech from Bundelkhand Institute Of Engineering And Technology (2018)

Having friends from IET and studying at BIET, I have enough knowledge about both the institutions. So, my suggestion will be HBTI. It will be a better choice than the others. But before selecting any college you must first learn about each college and its branches.

Categories

HBTI

Course Fee

5.17 lakh

Placement Percentage

75-80%

Highest CTC

60 LPA

Average CTC

10 LPA

Lowest CTC

7.18 LPA

Recruiting Companies

Aditya Birla Group, Samsung, Adani, BORL, Reliance Industries, Indigo Paints, Berger Paints, Tata Consultancy, IndiaMart

Firstly while choosing an institution, know where your interest lies and then opt for the desired subject. Secondly, choose the college which gives you more exposure. Make the list of all the pros and cons of the institutions and make a final decision based on it.

  • Research about every stream - Gain information about each stream the college is offering, and choose the one that strikes your interest. Also research about the future prospects of the subject, which will help you make an informed decision.
  • Examine what you require from the college - Every student has a different need from the institution they study in. This could be prospects in higher education, competitive exams like CAT, GATE, UPSC or maybe the college’s industrial, cultural and technical exposure.
  • Pointing out pros and cons of any institution is equally necessary. Talking to ex-students of that institution will provide a clearer picture of the institution. Always before committing over an institution, check your long term goals and how it will strengthen your career.

IT or Chemical Engineering from Harcourt Butler Technical University or HBTI will be a better option than other colleges. HBTI is one of the oldest engineering institutes that offers Bachelors, Masters, and Doctoral programs. The placement cell of HBIT is also good. Therefore, you can choose the HBTI for IT or Chemical Engineering. You can choose either branch in the field as per your interest and in the sector, you want to pursue your career.

How is the ECE department, placements and opportunities in IET Lucknow?

IG
Ishani Gupta Posted On : August 6th, 2021
Studied at Delhi University (2019)

The ECE department at IET Lucknow is not very impressive for pursuing higher education.

  • Sessions are scheduled quite casually and are very rare.
  • The placement it offers is similar to that of the other institutes which are affiliated with AKTU.
  • Mass recruiters like TCS are among the only few good options available for candidates.
  • IET is a Government Institute and hence the fee charged from candidates is lesser than that of Private institutions.
  • The institute is quite popular among the student communities in the state of UP.

You can check out the details of the placement of the institute in the table down below:

Categories ECE at IET Lucknow
Course Fee 3.44 lakhs
Highest CTC 25 LPA
Average CTC 12-16 LPA
Lowest CTC 5 LPA
Recruiting Companies TCS, DE Shaw, Barclays, Code Nation, etc.

I would suggest that you go for ECE at IET and then start preparing for competitive examinations and opt for GATE or CAT. For more details about the institute, do navigate through the official website of the college.

The payment for the fees can be done in both ways i.e. via online or using cash or a demand draft during the office hour in the institute. The tuition fees for the general B.Tech course are around INR 80,000 per year. The fee structure varies with the course but the payment stand is the same for every course.

The hostel fee in IET Lucknow for a semester is around INR 15,000. Part of the hostel fee is submitted in advance as security. Mess fee for the hostel costs an additional INR 17,000 per semester.

Students enrolled in the first year are allowed to pay through Demand Draft (DD) only. The fees can be submitted in the accounts division as a demand draft. If you wish to pay online, it can be done online via Internet Banking, NEFT, and RTGS.

  • HBTU also has highly experienced faculty members.
  • Placements at HBTU are also much better than IET Lucknow.
  • The enrolled candidates of the GATE exam are really great.
  • They also offer a vast alumni network unlike IET.

What marks do I need to score in the UPSEE to get admission to IET Lucknow for the CSE branch?

RS
Rahul Singhal Posted On : August 6th, 2021
Studied at Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow (2019)

My brother scored 428 in 2015, and he was qualified for the CSE branch, but instead, he chose ME. In the current situation, a score of more than 440 is required to obtain a spot in CSE.

Because the cut-off for each year varies, it's difficult to specify what the minimum marks are required for CSE.

You can check the cut-off stats for CSE in the last few years in the table below.

Year General  OBC SC ST
2019 193-342 357-495  2749-4252 9914
2018 7036 185-636 920-1891 4315-5089

Hope this gives you some idea about the cutoff required for CSE at IET Lucknow.

What is the dress code at IET Lucknow?

PG
Pooja Gupta Posted On : August 6th, 2021
B. Tech. Civil Engineering, Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow (2014)

There is no dress code at IET Lucknow. You can wear anything except sleepers, a nightdress, and anything that isn't appropriate for classes. However, I will suggest that you dress up smartly always as long as you can because eventually as you will get along with the later years of engineering.

You will realize that most of the time you will want to simply go to lectures in simple lower and shirts. So my suggestion is that as long as you are not being tapped by this feeling, dress up smartly, and you will notice the change in yourself.

Dressing up smartly doesn't mean going for brands and wearing expensive clothing. Live your college life as a student, just a normal life with minimal needs.
