MIT Manipal mechanical engineering department is highly respected in India. It’s known for its well-respected faculty, top-notch facilities, and a well-updated curriculum that prepares students for successful careers in the field. The credibility of the department is reflected in the number of successful graduates it has produced who have gone on to make significant contributions in their chosen fields.
Overall, the mechanical engineering department at Manipal Institute of Technology is considered to be one of the best in India and will offer an enriching experience for sure!
My brother was in a similar dilemma when he got CS in Manipal as well as IIIT Delhi. After consulting a few friends at Manipal, he decided to go for IIIT Delhi. He stated the following reasons for choosing IIIT Delhi over MIT Manipal.
If you want laid-back academics with a vibrant campus life, your choice should be Manipal whereas if you want a rigorous curriculum, then go for IIIT Delhi. It’s just a question of what your priorities are.
The Instrumentation and Control Engineering branch at MIT Manipal is a multifaceted branch dealing with various subjects related to Electrical, Electronics, and mechanical. Students are taught about sensors, transducers, electrical and mechanical instruments, microcontrollers, control systems, process automation, etc.
The branch is good and its labs are equipped with modern instruments. The faculty is decent and the placement scenario seems very promising.
One of my friends recently completed his BTech in instrumentation and control and gave me an active idea of the placement scenario of the branch. Out of the entire batch around 95% of students got placed. The highest package stood at INR 20 LPA and the average stood at INR 10 LPA while the lowest was recorded at INR 5 LPA. The star recruiters included Mercedes, Flipkart, Amazon, and Nvidia among many others.
Overall, this branch is great if you are interested in this field.
Getting admission to Manipal Institute of Technology is like stepping into a whole new world. You will be amazed by the diversity of the crowd here. Some will be geniuses while some just average students. The climate changes very frequently from extreme heat to a torrent of rain. The campus as a whole is seen as ECE and picturesque. Here are a few highlights of the institute
Overall, MIT Manipal is a great place to be!
The best way to choose the right college for you is to give preference to the branch and not just the tag. As a NIT pass out my friend claims that the opportunities NIT provides, and the freedom it gives you to grow is unmatched. The institute does give you a high level of freedom that might break or make your career. It’s you who decides the choices you make.
The best part about NIT Durgapur is its active club culture, which ensures a good bond between like-minded people. Also, being a government college, NIT charges very low fees in comparison to MIT, a private college.
Placements in general are great here both for core and non-core branches. Here is the branch-wise report that will help you decide better

B.Tech in Biotechnology offers a mixed curriculum covering areas of science, technology, and engineering. It also focuses on research. The Manipal brand may add to your profile but it depends on your interests. There are a plethora of opportunities in Industrial biotechnology & biochemical engineering whereas life science-oriented fields need more time. For more opportunities in that field, you will have to pursue a Masters.
MIR Manipal is a decent option for BTech in Biotechnology. The batch size is small and the faculties are great. Students get one-to-one attention from professors which is very crucial for an R&D-oriented stream. Professors have a lot of ongoing projects so you will learn a lot here.
Students are provided with internships, placements, and pre-placement offers (PPO) in core companies and ITES. Some of the core companies that recruit Biotechnology students of MIT Manipal are Nicholas Piramal Ltd., Philips HealthCare, Biocon, Syngene, Dr. Reddys, GlaxoSmithKline Asia Pvt Ltd, Molecular Connections Pvt Ltd, Wipro Wellness Care, Solara Active Pharma, Elexes Medical and Hyde Engineering. Other companies such as IBM, TCS, Accenture, Infosys, Wipro, PricewaterhouseCoopers, UST Global, Tolaram Group, Gen Works, The Math Company, and Think & Learn visit campus placements regularly.
Both Manipal Institute of Technology and NIT Trichy are highly reputed institutions for engineering education in India. Both institutes have a strong academic reputation, excellent faculty and facilities, and a large number of successful alumni.
If I were in your place, I would have chosen NIT Trichy for the simple fact that its a government college and ranked much better than MIT Manipal. It’s one of the top NITs and is second only to the top IITs. Some might comment that MIT Manipal has better infrastructure then they should also be aware of the fact that its amazing infrastructure comes out of their pockets. The fees charged are exorbitantly high so the excellent infrastructure is well-deserved. I am not claiming that MIT Manipal isn't good, in fact, it's the second-best private college after BITS but it still has a long way to go to reach the standards of IITs and NITs. However, it's important to note that my answer is only in comparison to NIT Trichy. If you are getting any other NIT that is not among the top 5, then in that case, choose MIT Manipal.
Ultimately, the choice of which institute is better for you will depend on your individual needs, preferences, and goals.

In all the Biomedical Engineering course is one of the best offered by a private engineering institution in the country.
If you're considering your options for an engineering college, it's important to weigh the pros and cons of each institution. Here are some things to consider when choosing between HBTI and MIT Manipal:
Ultimately, when deciding between two colleges, it's important to give preference to branch selection. Consider the program you're interested in and which college offers the best opportunities for your chosen field.
Take the time to do your research and explore all of your options before making a decision. With careful consideration, you can choose the engineering college that's right for you.
My friend recently completed his graduation with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical from Manipal. Here is what he shared regarding placements and faculty at MIT Manipal
So, don’t come to MIT Manipal if you are expecting a high package and a RnD job. But if you aren’t sure of your future goals, trust me MIT will help you find them!
