Were you asked in any interview regarding leaving your seat in IIM Raipur? If yes, how did you tackle the question?

JT
Jayant Thakur Posted On : February 6th, 2023
MBA from Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi (Graduated 2021)

It is not common for business schools or the Common Admission Test (CAT) to have a specific column to mention dropout cases. However, if a question about a previous dropout experience in IIM Raipur were to come up during an interview, it is important to be honest and transparent about the reasons for the decision.

It would be appropriate to explain that the decision to drop out was a result of not thoroughly researching and exploring one's interests before committing to the program. It would also be important to acknowledge any personal factors, such as not being physically, mentally, or otherwise prepared, that may have contributed to the decision. It is important to present the dropout experience as a valuable learning opportunity and to demonstrate the steps taken to ensure that the same mistakes are not repeated in the future.

It would be appropriate to explain that after leaving the program, the individual took the time to explore their interests and make sure that they were fully committed to pursuing an MBA before applying again.

What are the things that are to be kept in mind while attending an IIM Rohtak interview?

SM
Shivangi Mishra Posted On : August 2nd, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Rohtak (2020)

During an IIM interview, the interviewer will ask you some questions to check whether you are really the right person that you claim to be. Be well prepared for the interview and be confident so that you can answer all the questions and also go through some uncertainties.

  1. Try to find out some common questions that the interviewers might ask you about yourself before attending the interview. Go through all your answers and try to make them better by improving your fluency and grammar. Do not leave any loose ends and interviewers get impressed with your answers.
  2. During your interview, there will be two scenarios in front of you. One will be where you will know a proper answer to the question and you will be confident and the second will be where you will don't know an answer. Your goal should be to keep the conversation in your comfort zone but the interviewer should not get annoyed too.
  3. If you don't know a proper answer to a question then try to say it directly without wasting any time so that they can ask a different question. You should waste time as it is very precious.
  4. If you're asked a question about yourself that you haven't prepared then take some time to frame the answer. This will be beneficial for you as taking a few seconds will help you to structure your answer properly. The interviewers will also be dining with it if you deliver them a proper and meaningful answer to the question.

These are some of the things which should be kept in mind while attending an IIM interview and if someone follows all these steps while preparing for the interview then there are very good chances of getting selected for admissions to IIM.

What should I expect in the interview for a B.Stat at ISI, Kolkata?

GS
Gagan Singh Posted On : September 22nd, 2021
Studied B.Stat at Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata (2018)

My brother appeared for the interview last year, so I think I can answer your question.

The panelists will evaluate your ability to explain new questions. They might even ask you to solve the questions on the board. You must be clear about your choice of ISI Kolkata as you will be asked the reason for the same during the interview.

Expect questions on topics such as Calculus, Geometry, Combinatorics, and Probability. Keep your basics clear, know the definitions, and practice solving problems based on the definitions.

Just keep practicing, be confident and give your best shot at the interview.

KN

MBA from K.J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research (2017)

As one of my friends also has gone through the same situation, I might be able to provide you with some tips that could be useful to you.

  • Expect nothing out of the ordinary that will catch you off guard.
  • The interview process is straightforward and very conventional.
  • There's no need to be anxious if you have good reasons for what you've written on your CV and SOP.
  • Be meticulous with your SOP and CV, as most of the questions to be raised would be sourced from what’s written in your CV and SOP.
  • Remember, your desire to do an MBA should be convenient to the panel and they must know exactly why you want to get an MBA degree.

In most cases, case-based GD is offered, therefore XAT decision-making questions can be useful during preparation. If you have any prior work experience, you should expect some questions from that section as well. Hence be prepared in that way to walk through this interview round.

What types of questions are asked in a typical MBA interview (IIM, SPJ, FMS, NITIE,IIFT, MDI) for a person with a quizzing profile as a hobby?

SR
Sudipta Roy Posted On : August 20th, 2021
MBA BM from XLRI (2019)

The MBA interviews of top institutes like NITIE, IIM, SP Jain, IIFT, MDI, FMS, and others are tough.

The personal interview round judges your personality and your enthusiasm towards the program you are willing to join. A candidate who has a quizzing hobby can get any question.

Vague questions will be asked to test your quickness and presence of mind. Better and relevant questions get asked if the interviewer is a quizzer himself. The best way to deal with such a question is to drop hints about the area of your expertise.

Overall, the interview is all about how you handle the situation by using your presence of mind.

How was the interview experience at the SPJIMR PGDM course for information management?

AG
Anumita Ghose Posted On : June 6th, 2023
studied at S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research

For SPJIMR, there are two rounds of interviews. These are both group interviews, with the first one focusing on inquiries related to your chosen field of expertise and the second round focusing on your morals and values.

In my friend’s case, no questions about information management were asked, but there were times when inquiries about the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and other hot subjects in this industry were made. It is best to arrive prepared according to your chosen specialization and to have some knowledge of the other specializations, such as finance, operations, and marketing. Everyone in the group was required to express their opinion on a particular supply chain problem, regardless of the field they chose to study. There are no domain-specific questions in the second round.

You should wear formal for an XIMB interview. Wear a neatly tucked-in formal shirt with formal trousers, a belt, and formal shoes. It’s better to wear belt and shoes of the same color. You can wear a blazer as well if you have one. Don’t overdo your hair, keep it simple.

What are some common questions asked in the WAT and PI round of IIFM, Bhopal?

PS
Prathmesh Sinha Posted On : September 17th, 2022
IIFM at Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal

IIFM WAT topics are mostly abstract. For the PI section, the most common question is ‘Why IIFM?’ You need to have a clear answer for why this course fits into your life’s aspirations, and why are you a good fit for the program. Other than this, most of the questions asked in the PI section will revolve around your background, your past academics, and your SOP. There can be some questions on environment-related current affairs as well.
