Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) has recently notified that the university will include humanities, social science and allied sciences in its curriculum.
The improvement will be in practice from the academic session of 2020-2021. As a fact, MAKAUT will introduce courses pertaining to B.Sc Economics, Statistics, Psychology and M.Sc Applied Statistics, Psychology, Economics and Analytics.
While speaking about these new improvements, Saikat Maitra, Vice-Chancellor, MAKAUT, said, “Looking at the growing career prospects and cope for achieving employability in multiple functions as well as in diverse industries, the course has been launched.

Moreover, the institute will include state-of-the-art content, suitable for today’s digitized environment."
According to him, MSc in Applied Economics has been curated to develop economic reasoning skills and to guide students in estimating economic models applying quantitative techniques or econometrics.
He added, “It aims to build a firm understanding of the fundamental tools of economic analysis in students, for application in studies and analyses of economic issues and policies.”

“Introduction of full-time programmes in social and behavioural sciences will humanize the technical ambience of the varsity campus”, said Sukhendu Samajdar, Director, Schools of Natural, Applied and Social Sciences.
MAKAUT offers UG courses in computer science and engineering, IT (artificial intelligence, big data analytics, cybersecurity, data science), bioinformatics, biotechnology, business administration, robotics and 3D printing.
Apart from this, it also offers postgraduate courses in microbiology, molecular biology, food science & technology, clinical genetics, geoinformatics and PhD programmes.
For admission to B.Tech, BArch and B.Pharm degree courses, candidates have to obtain qualifying marks in WBJEE (West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination).
