New Delhi: The University of Lucknow (LU) has developed a vision plan to set ambitious goals for itself in a variety of areas during the following ten years. Vice Chancellor Prof. Alok Kumar Rai noted in an official statement that this will call for the implementation of a continual syllabus update in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which prioritises a holistic approach and interdisciplinary issues.

He claimed, "New study areas will be introduced in the areas of nanotechnology, food science and technology, Indian studies, computer science and engineering (data science), production and industrial engineering, chemical engineering, pharmacy, and PhD programmes in engineering and pharmacy based on market demand and potential future directions".

The introduction of topics like Asian history, globalising Indian culture, modern Indian knowledge systems, contemporary history, women's contributions to the liberation struggle, and diverse branches of the national freedom movement would also receive special attention, he added.

The university also intends to foster the development of practical skills by bridging academic fields and providing courses in fashion design, floriculture, floral crafts, organic farming, seed quality/viability testing, food testing, renewable energy, and other areas.

According to Lucknow University, the initiative would put an emphasis on developing opportunities for students to engage in more hands-on learning with local, national, and worldwide professionals. "Along with other improvements, new teaching labs equipped with cutting-edge interactive teaching tools will be opened. More short-term courses will be made available to give professionals marketable skills,” according to Rai.

It will be possible to aid internal startups and raise the student-teacher ratio by creating new teaching positions, adjunct teaching positions, designating professors of practise, and involving faculty members through fellowship programmes. The institution wants to offer a worldwide learning experience through foreign faculty, online teaching collaborations, student exchanges, and dual degree courses in its long-term (7–10 year) ambitions.

According to him, knowledge parks will be established in order to consolidate research, foster applications, share research discoveries with society, and develop publicly accessible information banks. In order to expand its brand internationally, the university also wants to open campuses abroad, fulfil international standards, and work with other institutions on research projects in India.
