The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore has opened the Mid-Year PhD Admission 2026-27 on its official admissions portal at admissions.iisc.ac.in. The admission window is for the January 2027 session. Eligible candidates can register online between October 6 and October 26, 2026.
IISc Bangalore application window closes at 23:59 hours IST on October 26, 2026. Shortlisted candidates will appear for interviews between November 16 and November 19, 2026. The new academic session will commence on January 1, 2027.
Applications are invited for both Regular Research Programmes and the External Registration Programme (ERP). The institute has also issued a corrigendum to the original notice dated September 16, 2026. Candidates must read the latest notification before filling out the form.

Who Is Eligible to Apply?
Candidates must hold a minimum second-class Master's degree in a relevant discipline. Students in the final semester or year of their qualifying examination may also apply. They must complete all requirements by January 1, 2027.
Such candidates must submit the final certificates by March 31, 2027. Applicants holding a B.E., B.Tech, or four-year B.S. degree need a valid national qualification. This includes GATE, UGC-NET JRF, CSIR-NET JRF, or an equivalent recognised test score.
