Key Changes Made to the CBSE Curriculum
A few changes that have been implemented in the CBSE Syllabus are provided below:
- Two Board Exams for Class 10: The CBSE Class 10 exam will be held twice a year – in February and April – providing students with more flexibility and opportunities to improve their scores.
- Competency-Based Questions: The curriculum emphasizes conceptual understanding and application of knowledge through competency-based questions rather than rote memorization.
- Revaluation Process Overhaul: CBSE has reformed the revaluation process to ensure greater transparency and fairness in assessment.
- Skill Education: Skill electives are offered in various fields like Hospitality and Tourism, emerging technology like Artificial Intelligence, Geospatial Technology, Finance, Business, Retail and Insurance, etc
- New Elective Subject: Applied Mathematics has been added as an elective subject in Group A.
- Basic Calculators Allowed in Class 12 Accountancy Exams: CBSE has approved the use of basic, non-programmable calculators for Class 12 accountancy students starting from the 2025-26 academic session.
- Digital Evaluation: The board will implement On-Screen Marking (OSM) and a new re-evaluation system.
CBSE Curriculum Class 10 2025-26
The CBSE Class 10 syllabus for the 2025-26 academic year will be based on a 9-point grading system. The Class 10 board exams will be conducted for a total of 80 marks, with an additional 20 marks for internal assessment for compulsory subjects. Students must secure a minimum of 33% marks in total across each subject to pass.

CBSE Curriculum 2026 for Class 12
The Class 12 board exams will be held once a year, with the 2026 exam starting from February 17, 2026. The board has also introduced new skill electives for Class 12 students to diversify their learning experience. These include:
- Land Transportation Associate
- Electronics and Hardware
- Physical Activity Trainer
- Design Thinking and Innovation
Important Changes in the Class 12 Syllabus:
- 9-Point Grading Scale: Similar to Class 10, the Class 12 syllabus will also be assessed using the 9-point grading system.
- Elective Choices: Students can choose one subject from Informatics Practices, Computer Science, or Information Technology (only one of the three).
