What is the latest program that you are offering in your institute/dept. which will help students outperform and stand apart from the crowd.

We are offering BSc Computer Science with Cognitive Systems (Integrated with TCS) as a 3-year course. The curriculum has been designed based on the recent technology trends, and IT corporate requirements and also as per suggestions from TCS. The first batch is onboarded with 69% of students placed in MNCs and 15% opted for Higher Studies. The placed students are performing well in their companies because of the curriculum and training that has been provided in the institution which is helping them to stand apart from the crowd. 

What are the factors that make this program the best for the students to opt for?

This Programme designing and Deploying an industry-relevant Curriculum and Building a talent pool of industry-ready graduates. The programme is offered as Train the Teacher Model i.e. the teachers are trained by TCS, and the faculty in turn will teach to the students. In the department we are training the students in such a way that the students can face real-world challenges, inculcation of such lifelong Learning helps them anywhere, anytime the students can update themselves and earn their skills which leads to sustainable development. 

What will you say are the “best practices” in the course you’re offering?

Some of the best practices are student forums each year. Students are formed as groups’ viz. emerging to Inspire for I Years. Discussing their inspired person, fostering the Conference for 2nd Years to discuss technological developments and know your Industry to discuss the Companies which helps them to learn teamwork, communication, time management and also develops leadership skills. 

What are some valuable insights into the program that you are offering at your institute/dept.?

To Bridge the gap between Industry and academia the institution insists on Industry Integration, Industrial Visits, and Industry Immersion in Curriculum Development. Course abroad programs are really helpful for the extra mile runners i.e. for advanced learners. The students have been given wide exposure to IT infrastructure and Development through industrial interactions, Workshops, Peer Learning, Skill Development Programmes, Capacity Building Programmes, etc. Various competitions have been organized to exhibit their skills and students of forerunners in their area of interest have been identified and trained by the faculty members and they will be given opportunities to participate in the competitions.

How does the program ensure that students are being prepared for the future?

The institution offers skill Development programs, Value value-added courses, Electives offer choices for the students to select subjects of their own choice and Open Electives allow the students to select their subjects across the departments which helps the students to think beyond their domain on their own. Student engagement programs and Industrial visits are more helpful for them to know the real-time happenings in the industry. The Central Placement Division (CTPCR) trains the students for placements viz, Softskills, Aptitude, etc., and Higher Education. The Entrepreneurial skills have been developed by EDC cell by offering one credit paper and an Almaprenuer forum creating various opportunities.

How did you train yourself/faculty to deliver this program to the students?

The Curriculum has been framed and revised as per the needs of the industry changes every semester. Based on the Curriculum, a detailed faculty development program helps them with training in respective domains by renowned academicians and industry persons. The specific industry papers will be trained by TCS in turn the faculty will be delivering the contents to the students in both theoretical and practical ways. The faculty are trained in such a way that they will identify the students’ skills and opportunities are created based on the student’s area of interest.

How do you tend to build an industry connection with this program? 

The program Computer Science with Cognitive Systems is integrated with Tata Consultancy Services. Each semester the Academic Interface (AI) and Subject Matter Expert (SME) will be involved in curriculum framing. Each semester one or two subjects will be as per the requirement of Industry which will be trained by the industry veterans for the teachers who in turn will deliver to the students. Industry Interactions and Workshops will be conducted for the students to enrich their knowledge in their specific domains to meet the industrial expectations. 

What were the challenges that you faced while inculcating this program into your curriculum?

Yes, facing challenges with Zen-Z students is more common in today's scenario. Even though Industry Immersion courses are more useful, breaking the traditional beliefs and expectations is a challenge. These types of courses are a little different from traditional ways of teaching. To bring out the best in students, the institution is offering Laptops for Industry tie-up programs in the student welfare scheme. Students will be bringing their devices under the concept of “Bring Your Device” and students will work anywhere anytime hands-on. 

What are the benefits and career options after pursuing this course?

This program offers a full-fledged curriculum in the field of IT Infrastructure and IT Applications, Maintenance, and Services. Value-added graduation degree with an in-depth understanding of real-time infrastructure domains blended with practical lab experiences in the areas of Computer Networking and Operating Systems, Virtualization and Cloud Computing, ITIL, and Process Management will help them to learn the real-time happenings of the IT industry. The students had been placed in MNCs viz L&TMindTree, TCS, WIPRO, ZOHO-Zappy in the role of Associate Developer, IT Services Infrastructure Operations, etc. 

When you came to college, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same?

Entered as a teacher observed all day-to-day activities and identified gaps that have been filled with the requirements. A lot of learning is still happening in the process and continuing by keeping in mind the quality targets for the improvement of the student community. The ultimate goal which I have set is. The Satisfaction of the Customer. Students should be nailed in such a way that they have to face the world with clear focus and chase their desire by gaining the skill of what they want. As faculty members, we are trying to bring confidence, inculcate a habit of lifelong learning, and teach them to face society with a sense of humanity to stand tall in society.
