E. Kiran Kumar is the Training & Placement Officer at the Welfare Institute of Science Technology and Management, Visakhapatnam. He is a dedicated scholar currently pursuing a Ph.D. at JNTUK since 2022. He completed his Master of Technology with a specialization in Control Systems from Andhra University in 2018, anD MBA from JNTUK in 2016, and a Bachelor of Technology in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from JNTUK in 2014.

Kiran Kumar possesses a range of technical skills, including proficiency in MS Office, Tally 9.0, basic hardware, internet usage, and MATLAB. His academic journey has been marked by notable projects, such as the development of a microcontroller-based uninterruptible power supply system and the design and implementation of a cascaded H-bridge multilevel converter. He also published a paper on "Design of Sensor less Induction Motor Using Fuzzy Logic Controller" in the IEEE International Conference on Recent Innovations in Electrical, Electronics & Communication Engineering (ICRIEECE) in 2018, demonstrating his commitment to the field of electrical and electronics engineering.

For how long have you been with WISTM? What do you think your roles and responsibilities?

Yeah, I have been here for 3 years, I have to train the students in the way of placements and I have to place the students.

How much of a team do you have in the placement team and how they are working?

Yes, we have 5 members, with one person responsible for arithmetic, reasoning, and soft skills training. We are dedicated to enhancing students' knowledge in CRT, teaching essential skills like arithmetic, reasoning, and soft skills, which will greatly benefit them in their job search. These skills are crucial, as they are common requirements in both the public and private sectors for securing employment. Our focus remains on these key aspects.

Name companies till now WISTM has brought?

Yes, we have brought in some different core-type companies, such as International Steel Detailing Services, which is one of the multinational corporations (MNCs). Additionally, we have established connections with Infosys, IOCL, including contract-based opportunities at IOCL, and TCS. We facilitate interactions with all these companies, including Infosys, TCS, and HCL. Furthermore, we have provided students with relevant links since physical campus visits have ceased, and only online recruitment drives are currently in progress. Therefore, our focus is primarily on guiding and registering all 4th-year students to secure positions in both software and core companies. For example, we have collaborated with Harsco, another MNC specializing in steel plant operations, which offers various opportunities in both core and software domains.

What are the different training programs you offer in WISTM?

Yes, as I mentioned earlier, we offer courses in subjects such as arithmetic, which is a foundational mathematical skill crucial for securing employment. Additionally, we provide instruction in reasoning and general intelligence to enhance the students' cognitive abilities. We understand the importance of effective communication skills, so we offer classes in soft skills and communication. We guide students on goal-setting and provide training in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and core Java, essential skills for entering the software industry. With these skills, students can pursue careers as web developers, front-end developers, or even backend developers using Java and Python. These courses are available to students starting from their second year, with the aim of helping them secure employment by the fourth year, all at no cost to the students. These are the training programs we offer.

How many placements till now WISTM received and in which streams?

We have brought nearly 15 companies to our college, resulting in the selection of approximately 120 to 130 students. As for the streams we offer, they include CSE for various software companies, as well as ECE, EEE, Mechanical, and Civil engineering. Our college comprises five branches: CSE, EEE, Mechanical, ECE, and Civil engineering, and we have successfully placed students in all of these fields. Some of the core companies that have recruited from our institution include International Steel Detailing Services, Feed Systems Pvt. Ltd., Harsco India Pvt. Ltd., TVS Law and HR Solutions, Trizeo Technologies, Sarda Metals and Alloys Ltd, among others. We have collaborated with various companies across different branches to provide opportunities to our students.

What are the highest packages the students have received till now from the last two sessions of the year?

Actually, 50 Fin Company, we had one person selected for an 11 LPA (Lakhs Per Annum) position, and he successfully secured the job. He is currently employed and working.

What do you want to say about your experience in WISTM?

WISTM is a remarkable college. We boast excellent laboratories and a serene, green environment that fosters a conducive atmosphere for students to study and read. Our library is outstanding, welcoming countless students who can utilize both physical and digital resources. The digital library offers technological conveniences, allowing students to access materials on computer systems, broadening their learning experience. Additionally, we prioritize sports and provide daily sports hours from 3 o'clock to 4 o'clock for all branches and years, promoting physical fitness and mental well-being. We are dedicated to offering these opportunities, and our curriculum, aligned with the AU syllabus, enhances students' knowledge and equips them to excel in exams like IES and GATE, opening doors to promising career prospects. It is a curriculum designed to empower students and ensure they secure excellent job opportunities.
