What significant changes have you noticed in the education sector since the time you have joined it?

In recent years, I have observed numerous significant yet dramatic changes in the world of education, some of which are particularly exacerbated by the Covid-19 Pandemic. And if we carefully see the initial time, the transition from offline to online learning posed multiple hurdles on both teachers and students' part, but over time they have shown a resurgence in their dedication and sincerity towards studies. Then comes the New Education Policy, which was recently launched by the government. It has also provided a plethora of learning opportunities to students on a national and global level and they now have the scope to choose from various vocational courses, majors and minors subjects along with open electives, all of which ultimately allow them to tailor their education in accordance with their interests and career goals. Overall, I believe that changes which have occurred in the education world in recent times, represent a positive shift and provide more flexibility and diverse success paths to the younger generation of our society.

What traits and roles should a good leader have in your opinion?

In my perspective, the role of a good leader is multifaceted and encompasses several essential qualities. Firstly, a good leader should prioritize the needs of others and if we take the education sector into consideration, this translates to a sincere commitment to timely address and fulfill student’s best interests. Apart from this, a good leader should not be solely motivated by personal gain but rather by the desire to contribute to the growth and development of those they lead.

In other terms, a good leader should act as a mentor, guide, influencer, and role model for others and their good actions should be the reason for people’s inspiration. Ultimately, to foster strong leadership and build a better society, one must lead by example. Therefore, a good leader should embody the qualities they wish to see in those they lead, serving as an inspiration and a driving force for positive change.

What kinds of learning and placement opportunities are provided by your college to students?

Our college offers a wide range of courses, covering nearly every field except Engineering. And we have also established strong connections with numerous reputable companies and have signed formal memorandums of understanding too with many of them to provide a multitude of internships, real-world projects and job opportunities to our students right from their first year. As a result, the majority of them secure lucrative salary packages and decent job profiles in good companies by the time they complete their graduation or post-graduation.

As the Head in Charge of Placement, what qualities and skills do you think recruiters are looking in students nowadays?

Being the Head in Charge of Placement, I have closely worked with experts and recruiters of well-known industries and organizations and have observed over time that they primarily look for good communication skills in students. And when we refer to good communication skills, it basically means candidates should have the ability to positively influence, persuade and effectively convince others. And in addition to this, recruiters value personal and intrapersonal skills, including self-awareness and interpersonal abilities. Last but not the least, in today’s highly dynamic and competitive world, we can’t leave behind technical skills. All in all, all these skills and qualities will be needed in a candidate before they step into the corporate world.

What are some of the biggest challenges you see for higher education in general?

In today’s time, some of the biggest challenges which higher educational institutions are facing nowadays include the need to rapidly adapt to ever changing technologies, ensuring students stay focused and interested towards their studies and whatever is being taught to them remains useful for a long time irrespective of changing job market. Other than this, it’s equally important to help students develop important life skills while they study.

Another challenge for educational institutions is making sure that all kinds of students, no matter where they come from, can succeed irrespective of their financial backgrounds and help students find good jobs after they graduate. And I firmly believe that to effectively deal with these hurdles, colleges need to work together by bringing their teachers, students, and leaders on one common platform.

Any suggestion which you would like to share with the aspiring students and youths of our society?

I would like to advise my dear students and youths of our society to stay consistent in their efforts, because it’s not essential to fixate on immediate outcomes but instead they should focus on giving their best.

And it’s not hidden from anyone that honesty and sincere efforts bring best results and the same is mentioned in our ancient scriptures and the Bhagavad Gita. Hence I would encourage everyone to look for the best available opportunities where they can use their existing skills and develop new ones. Also, don’t be disheartened by setbacks and always remember that failures are stepping stones to success.
