Arpit Kumar: Leading Shoolini to Taekwondo Triumph

Arpit Kumar has secured the top spot at the recent Inter-University Taekwondo Championship hosted in Jalandhar. Arpit is a first-year BTech CSE student at Shoolini University. His performance not only earned him the first prize but now, he will be representing Shoolini University in the upcoming All India Taekwondo Games.

How Did it Start?

Arpit fondly recalled how his passion for Taekwondo ignited during a summer camp in his early school years. “It was way back in the first standard that I joined a summer camp and practised Taekwondo as a co-curricular activity, and from that moment, I developed a profound interest, realising that this is something I want to pursue," he shared.

His Inspiration?

Hailing from Haryana, Arpit draws inspiration from his father, an Akhada wrestler. He said, “Through sports, we achieve mental and physical fitness. It enhances our decision-making abilities. So, believe in yourself, practice daily, and never give up – success stems from perseverance.”

Support from Shoolini University

Shoolini University played a pivotal role in Arpit's success, providing top-notch training facilities and financial support for competitions and equipment. Arpit highlighted, "Our campus and university offer an excellent balance between academics and sports. I have been preparing within the campus, benefiting from a dedicated coach and well-equipped training facilities. I am prepared to give my best at the All-India University Taekwondo games, and I plan to participate in future tournaments for the university, continuing to deliver my best,” he added.

Arpit's proficiency in Taekwondo is complemented by his leadership skills, serving as the student coordinator for martial arts activities at Shoolini University. This dual role highlights his athletic prowess and influential role within the university community.

The victory of students like Arpit mirrors the university's vision of nurturing talent and promoting a culture of all-around excellence. Poonam Nanda, Dean Student Welfare, remarked, "This accomplishment not only adds another feather to Shoolini University's cap but also solidifies its reputation as a hub for nurturing talent and fostering a culture of all-around excellence. By providing outstanding mentorship and training for young and enthusiastic athletes, the university sustains its legacy of producing young athletes who contribute to winning gold for the country.”
