Mr. Arunangshu Bhattacharya is the Deputy Director of the Amity School of Hospitality at Amity University Gurgaon. He has over 39 years of experience in industry, academia, and more. Before he started working, he earned an M.Sc. in Tourism and Hotel Management, a Diploma in Hotel Management, and several certification courses in his area of expertise. Not only has he written four books and book chapters. Before joining Amity University, he worked as Chef Trainee at the Oberoi School of Management, Senior Lecturer of Food and Beverage Service at IIBM, Sales Manager at Premier Raw Foods, to name a few.

Being Head of Department, how do you ensure student has holistic exposure not just academics?

As the Head of the Department, ensuring holistic exposure for our students is of utmost importance. We achieve this by incorporating a well-rounded curriculum that goes beyond academics. Our students participate in various extracurricular activities, industry visits, workshops, and seminars. We also encourage them to engage in community service and internships, providing them with real-world experiences and opportunities for personal growth.


How do you try to bring in practical approach towards subjects and how students get practical experience from studying the subject?

To instill a practical approach to subjects, we integrate hands-on learning into our teaching methodologies. We offer practical sessions, simulations, case studies, and group projects. Through these experiences, students develop essential problem-solving and critical thinking skills, which are invaluable in their future careers.
