Dr.Mantripragada Yaswanth Bhanu Murthy is a distinguished academician and able administrator with more than 24 years of experience He has grown from the ranks right here in the institute, starting his teaching career as a lecturer in 1999. Prior to assuming the position of the HOD, he was the Professor at Arjun College of Technology and Science,Hyderabad. He obtained his PhD from Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur, and his MastersDegree from Dr.MGR Engineering College,Chennai. He has published 40 research papers in various reputed national and international journals, besides 5 patents to his credit. 

In his impressive teaching and administrative career, he has consistently promoted innovative teaching practices and imaginative thinking. He has endeared himself to his students and colleagues alike through his affable nature and empathetic leadership style. He received 16 Awards and Recognitions.

Being a HEAD OF DEPARTMENT of VVIT, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students

As the HOD of ECE at VVIT, my foremost responsibility is to ensure a conducive learning environment for students. I oversee curriculum quality, faculty development, and student support, aiming to foster academic excellence and holistic growth among our students.


How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty? 

I foster healthy relationships with students and fellow faculty through open communication, approachability, and regular interactions. I encourage a collaborative environment where ideas are shared, and concerns are addressed, promoting a sense of belonging and mutual respect within the department.


How do you try to bring in practical approach towards subjects and make it industry oriented ?

I strive to infuse practicality and industry relevance into subjects by incorporating real-world examples, case studies, and hands-on projects. Collaborations with industry experts, workshops, and internships further bridge the gap between academia and industry, ensuring our curriculum equips students with practical skills and knowledge.


What are the best practices offered by the department to the students which help them gain necessary skills? 

Our department offers a range of best practices to enhance students' skills. These include regular industry interactions, technical workshops, hackathons, and project-based learning. Additionally, mentorship programs, career counseling, and participation in research activities contribute to a well-rounded education that equips students with the necessary skills for their future endeavors.


How do you strategize the curriculum and how often it gets updated to make it befitting for the students? 

Our curriculum strategy involves a dynamic approach to cater to the evolving needs of students and industries. We regularly assess industry trends, gather feedback from faculty and students, and collaborate with advisory boards to ensure our curriculum remains relevant. Updates are made at least once a year, integrating emerging technologies and skills to provide students with a contemporary and industry-relevant educational experience.


What are your views upon the placements and higher education about the students from your department orHow does your department prepare students for Higher education?

We prioritize both placements and higher education opportunities for our students. Our department offers comprehensive training for placements, including mock interviews, resume building, and soft skills development. To prepare students for higher education, we provide guidance on choosing suitable programs, assist in application processes, and offer research opportunities. We aim to empower students to make informed decisions and excel in their chosen paths, whether in industry or academia.


How do you help your student to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world? 

We support students in coping with external competition by focusing on holistic skill development. Through personalized mentoring and workshops on critical thinking, problem-solving, and emotional intelligence, we equip students with the tools needed to excel in a competitive environment. Additionally, internships, industry collaborations, and exposure to emerging technologies enhance their practical knowledge, making them well-prepared and adaptable for the challenges of the real world.


Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real-world challenges?

Yes, we offer a range of extracurricular activities and programs to enhance students' skills and expose them to real-world challenges. These include technical clubs, hackathons, guest lectures by industry experts, industrial visits, and participation in national and international competitions. What are the challenges you faced/ are facing to uplift the quality of education of your department? 

Uplifting the quality of education in our department has been a rewarding yet challenging endeavor. Adapting to rapid technological changes, recruiting and retaining qualified faculty, and maintaining a curriculum that aligns with industry demands are ongoing challenges. Additionally, ensuring students have access to the latest resources, maintaining a balance between theoretical and practical learning, and fostering innovation in teaching methodologies are areas that require continuous attention and effort.


When you came to college, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same? 

Upon joining the college, my vision was to transform the ECE department into a hub of academic excellence and industry relevance. I am working towards this by focusing on curriculum modernization, faculty development, industry collaborations, and promoting a student-centric approach. Through consistent innovation, strong industry connections, and a commitment to holistic education, we are making strides toward realizing this vision and shaping well-rounded, industry-ready graduates.

I would advise students to embrace continuous learning, remain adaptable to change, and cultivate a growth mindset. Focus on building strong foundational knowledge, but also develop practical skills, communication abilities, and a passion for innovation. Seek internships, engage in extracurricular activities, and never hesitate to explore new opportunities.
