Professor M. Sunder Ram is the Dean of Science at Chaitanya University. He obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). What is the latest program that you are offering in your institute/dept. which will help students outperform and stand apart from the crowd?
We offer B.Tech CSE, B.Tech CSE (Artificial Intelligence And Machine Learning), B.Tech CSE (Data Science), B.Sc. (Cardiovascular Technology), B.Sc. (Forensic Science), B.Sc. (Anesthesia), B.Sc. (Physiotherapy), B.Sc. (Nutrition Dietetics and Food Science), B.Sc. (Radiology), B.Sc. (Forensic Science), and B.Sc. (Medical Lab Technology). All these programs are the latest job-oriented degree courses. The first three courses are offered by the Dept of Computer Science and Engineering. The remaining courses are under the Allied Health Sciences Department. Enhanced learning with practical experience will make students prove their ability in the respective courses.Engineering students have to participate in coding programs, enroll them in coding, and make them write one program daily. Hackathons will create good employment opportunities in software industries. For allied health science students, 50 percent of practical training is offered in Super SpecialtyHospitals. Our university has collaborated with AIG Hospitals, and SLG Hospitals for practical training.
What are the factors that make a program the best for the students to opt for?
Interest and passion are the two factors. Any student who wants to study engineering should have an interest in that program. If he is interested he can excel in his studies. The Programs that we offer at our university are well-designed in curriculum and make students passionate about the subject. All the courses are lively and practical-oriented courses.Personality is a major factor in selecting a program.
What would you say are the “best practices” in the course you’re offering?
Our university is dedicated to providing robust career growth support systems for its students with assistance and guidance. These support systems include a range of initiatives such as Best Research Publication Awards, Merit Scholarships, Freeships, and Gold Medals. These incentives not only motivate students to excel academically but also reward their achievements. Earn-while-you-learn scheme, matching course demographics with schedules can help the students. All the courses are scheduled two times a week and are most consistently linked with positive student outcomes.
What are some valuable insights of the program that you are offering at your institute/ dept.?
Effective implementation and training in the courses will help our students to be successful. Students who undergo a training program on course outcomes and expectations learn proper techniques and they will know how to perform their job responsibilities independently. When students feel that their teachers and management are taking care of them, they may express more satisfaction in their career path and perform more efficiently. High morale levels can also help students innovate new ideas at faster rates, which can enhance the quality of their results. They help teachers feel valued. Students who receive consistent training are successful.
How does the program ensure that students are being prepared for the future?
We strengthen academic, emotional, and social competencies in student cohorts by prioritizing skills, having connections,and setting time for advisory meetings where teachers connect with students to have academic and social-emotional support and a long-lasting relationship. A combination of core and trans-disciplinary professional competence will prepare students for the future. One needs to learn new things quickly and thoroughly, constantly sharpening one’s cutting edge. This attitude needs to be ingrained at this stage.

How did you train yourself/faculty to deliver this program to the students?
According to Kolb’s theory, there are four main stages in the learning cycle for every teacher, namely, concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation. We deliver lectures by constantly observing and improving the pulse of the students. Every teacher of our university upgrades his or her knowledge by appearing in NPTEL certificate courses apart from attending FDPs, Seminars, Workshops, and Conferences. Teachers constantly improve their classroom management skills, maintain a warm and professional association, develop strong communication skills, take a periodical break from work, update their technical skills, record their teaching sessions, appropriate dress code for the teachers, and network with other teachers.
How do you tend to build an industry connection with this program?
Communication technology has made it conceivable to rise above boundaries and join forces with partners across the globe. The first step to fostering professionals with a global standpoint is to implement world-class academic programs and institutional infrastructure at par with top global educational institutions. Industry-based internships augment education by linking theories and practices. It develops an understanding of analytical concepts and tools, builds confidence in their use, and refines skills essential for their successful application. It also forces students to learn to recognize and explain problems, understand and navigate formal and informal structures, identify implementable actions, and exercise judgments when making decisions. It teaches students skills based on finding and framing problems, collecting, synthesizing, and filtering large volumes of vague data, engaging in multiplicative and lateral thinking, and helping them persistently learn and experiment. What were the challenges that you faced while inculcating this program in your curriculum?
Getting government permission from regulating authorities, and framing and designing course curricula are the major challenges we faced. Gathering relevant required materials based on institutional requirements, and long waits for development experts are other challenges which we encountered.
What are the types of projects that the students are working on through this program?
Students are working on projects like information and data organizing projects, major investigation projects, problem-solving projects, and design projects.
What are the benefits and career options after pursuing this course?
With a college degree, students learn higher-end skills, get a high-paying job, gain required industry experience, and build a strong network in their field, which are going to positively impact and improve their social status. Pursuing M.Sc. for higher studies after graduating with a B.Sc. degree is the most obvious choice.
