What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“The ability to empower the students to get the best of their potential”

I have been connected with the education sector for more than 17 years. In my journey, I have realized that having a passion for teaching and learning is indispensable. Education should be approached in a comprehensive and progressive way. It can give a totally new and different meaning and thrust to the teaching-learning process. My joy lies in being able to contribute to the reframing and changing the methodologies for the best outcomes.

What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

“Bringing in a blend of transformational and participative leadership”

Change is playing an ever-increasing role in many organizations and the education sector in turn demands a change-oriented work environment too. We can say that the good balance between the two management styles transformational leadership and participative leadership is well suited in the present scenario. Leading through examples, inspiration, and engagement I always seek ways to get the best performance and potential out of each team member. At the same time, I cultivate participation, empower team members, and work directly alongside organizational members at every level.

How do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your school?

“Making use of digital platforms”

I always value team building and strengthening a healthy and conducive environment for teachers and the ones being taught. The strategy mainly involves maintaining the excellence of the university in academics through innovative techniques, methodologies and unmatched discipline oriented approach towards the students. And as far as marketing is concerned, in today’s digital world, traditional marketing strategies are no longer suitable for targeting younger demographics. Educational institutions must embrace digital channels if they want to convey their message to a large audience in a cost-effective manner.

How does the curriculum of Jagran/University ensure the best practice of industry?

“Backing our curriculum with multi-dimensional development opportunities”

Jagran College strictly follows the syllabi of CSJM University. At the undergraduate level, we have B.A, B.Com, BBA and BCA and B.Sc. courses, M.Com at the postgraduate level. B.B.A, a professional course that truly reflects the reality of globalization, and the BCA course are oriented towards training students in computer applications. Jagran College has successfully completed its fifteen glorious years and continues to grow by spreading its wings and coming up with another resourceful and enterprising course B.Com Hons. from the current session. Jagran College strives to develop competent managerial human resources for the industry, who is ready to take on the challenges of the ever-changing corporate environment. We incorporate value-added programs to the curriculum and improve the job prospects of the students through industrial visits, internship programs, personality development programs, additional certificate courses, and campus placement.

Any insights into how your university could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

“Disregarding the notion of quality education being a luxury”

I consider it as part of my responsibility to address the learning needs of all of the students irrespective of different races or economic background and cultivate a learning environment. Here all students are treated equally with equal access to learning. We have been successful in creating a welcoming environment where students from all walks of life feel valued, and supported in their journey.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the University and the students are?

“Paving way for the overall development of the college”

Holding a key position in the institution, I believe that my roles and responsibilities are:

  • Shaping a vision of academic success for all students, one based on high standards.
  • Creating a congenial environment to education in order that safety, a co-operative spirit, and healthy interaction prevail.
  • Nurturing leadership in others so that teachers and other staff members assume their parts in realizing the vision.

What do you think should be the University’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“Creating a pool of opportunities for the students to fulfill their dreams”

The college seeks to provide the students with learning that aims to empower them in finding the best of both cultural and material achievements. The college also aims to be the torchbearer of knowledge to the extreme edges where higher education is yet to blossom. With concerted efforts we are committed to awakening youth to “Learn, Discover, Share, and Create” and make the world a better place. Our priority lies in becoming thoughtful and helping individuals discover their talent and abilities. 

When you first came to Jagran college, what was your vision for the College? Has it evolved, and how far along in implementing that vision are you?

“Making quality education accessible to every aspiring student”

I had joined the institution 13 years ago as a faculty member in the Dept. of Economics, took charge as Principal in March 2016. During the last four years, I have introduced two undergraduate courses namely -B.Sc. & B.com Hons. besides, we have also applied for Integrated B.Ed. the course which is expected in the next year. Making this college a reliable and responsible center of higher studies is my top priority. My vision is to cater to the needs of all sections of society in the most conducive environment with the most affordable fee structure.

What are some of the biggest challenges you see, both for higher education in general and for University specifically?

“Keeping at par with the changing world”

Higher Education in India needs to focus more on giving practical insights to students rather than giving theoretical knowledge. The biggest challenge is to revise the curriculum in such a manner that ensures the skill development of the students. At Jagran College, we are trying to imbibe Lifelong Learning in students and to improve classroom engagement, and foster skills for adapting to continual change in today’s world.

What are some plans that you’re currently ( or will be) designing for Jagran College/ University international affairs and/or students?

“Inculcating research culture in the system”

We are planning to start a Research center in college soon. The aim is to create an opportunity for faculty and students to enhance their research work, build academic excellence, and to disseminate knowledge in the society, and help in problem-solving on various issues.

How do you tend to establish a healthy relation and environment in your institute/university?

“Complete transparency within the institution”

The key to a healthy relation and environment in college is to embrace a positive attitude, cultural and holistic development of students. By keeping an open communication system we get a better understanding of the students and their needs. With the foundation of trust and respect, an institution can truly flourish.
