What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

Shikshapeeth believes in diversified leadership methods based on needs like instructional, democratic, constructivist, and transformational leadership styles. Through instructional leadership, we focus on teaching quality. Our institute focuses on developing teachers to ensure their students get the best possible learning experience. Democratic leadership style, as it is the most natural for the students. Students feel more comfortable when involved in their education, which allows them to be active participants instead of passive observers. Constructivism allows students to deepen their understanding of what they’re learning by interacting with one another and exploring their perspectives on a particular topic or issue. Using this leadership style, teachers start with a problem and let their students find solutions. They also encourage their students to share ideas and collaborate to solve problems together. Transformational leadership focuses on role-modelling, where teachers influence, inspire, and encourage employees to deliver positive change.

How do you try to bring in practical approach towards subjects and how students get practical experience from studying the subject?

We believe in practical learning that allows students to put what they’ve learned in the classroom into practise. It is critical to the acquisition of new information and abilities. We emphasise knowledge gained via practical applications, such as experiments, real-world projects, or educational excursions, as we carry it with us for a long time. Shikshapeeth is the driving force behind the success of their students. There are several ways that we develop practical learning in our school for students, like encouraging students to participate in learning activities, taking them on educational tours, demonstrating concepts practically in the class or outside the classroom, keeping innovative and creative materials in the classroom for teaching, giving projects and assignments related to the syllabus, conducting innovative games in the classroom and creating a learning environment for students in laboratories, among others. We provide hands-on training for each student in the laboratories and use storytelling and plays to help students gain a better understanding.

What are the best practices offered by the department to the students which help them gain necessary skills?

We have created a student-centred learning environment where we get to examine how physical set-up and teacher roles affect student expectations. We also build relationships that promote a safe and positive environment in which students are responsible, self-motivated, and self-evaluating. Moreover, we plan assignments and assessments in alignment with standards of learning. We purposefully plan strategies to adjust teaching practices to meet the needs of individual students and employ teaching strategies, techniques, and resources that meet the needs of all students. We also try to be responsive to the variety of ways students demonstrate thinking and learning.
