Mr. K. Muralidhar is the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department at West Godavari Institute of Science and Engineering. He obtained his M.Tech in Tool Design from Osmania University, Hyderabad, and B.Tech from GIET, Rajamahendravaram, in Mechanical Engineering. He has more than ten years of teaching experience.

You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

My passions include study and teaching. Ever since completing my post-graduation, I have been involved in the field of education. In addition to teaching kids, my job as an educator requires me to stay up to date on trends and acquire new skills. Real-time case studies, live projects, hands-on experience, generating innovative ideas, confining with examples and other prototypes if possible. Research, hybrid learning, entrepreneurship, analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Blockchain courses which we have been offering to our students, and other pedagogical practices to make sure our students are well-equipped to become industry managers and leaders globally.


Being the HOD of West Godavari Institute of Sciences and Engineering, what is your leadership philosophy? How would you describe your leadership style?

In today’s competitive world, effective project management and meeting deadlines are crucial for success. With the ever-increasing complexity of campaigns, dividing a team into specialized groups can not only expedite the work process but also ensure a high level of expertise and efficiency in each aspect of the campaign. My approach to leadership is focused on openness and communication because I think these qualities foster a productive, diverse workplace, build trust, and facilitate productive teamwork, all of which contribute to the success of the team. I want to build a high-performing team that succeeds as a whole by assigning work to the appropriate people and giving them the assistance they need. I also lead by showing transparency, fairness, integrity, honesty, and accountability with my department staff members in my actions and decisions and I treat everyone with respect and dignity.


The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your institute?

India has a long history of invention and research, which is why many students opt to study there. The teaching methods used in colleges are designed to support students’ growth in logical and analytical thinking. Most engineering colleges regularly organize alumni gatherings, subject matter expert conferences, and visits from corporate executives. The cost-effectiveness of Indian higher education is widely recognized, which is an added advantage to its excellent caliber. In the end, it facilitates both academic and personal development.

Our college’s students aspire to do research and develop into capable business people in Andhra Pradesh and to build up a strong entrepreneur.


What do you see as your Institute’s greatest strengths?

Practical laboratory experiments, internships, field trips, study abroad opportunities, undergraduate research, and studio performances were some of the activities held at West Godavari Institute of Sciences and Engineering (PD). We also offer faculty with commitment, good infrastructure, conceptual learning methodologies, full-time faculty, hands-on experience workshops, and guest or visiting faculty.


What would you like people to know about your college they may not know?

It is a great place to work, the best environment to be associated with, for students, and one of the best colleges, where they can experience the blend of best practices of industry and academics. We have a distinguished leadership series, where we invite industry speakers and we have a world-class full-time and visiting faculty.


Would you like to give any message to the current youth and the aspiring students?

As far as students are concerned, a change in mindset is the required skill. They have to quickly adapt, re-skill rather than p-skill, and face the challenges. Given the current trends, students must learn fast to adapt to the changes imposed on us like COVID, or any future shock events.
