You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

Yeah, when I started my career in 1999, the scenario at that time, when compared to the scenario today was completely different. And it is changing day by day also, continuously. These days students are looking at the institutions for their, building their career as well as for getting their, not only by getting the completion of course or anything like that. That means students are expecting much from the institutions. Of course, at the same time, they are looking at the placement scenario of the institutions and faculty positions and everything. And over the entire period, 10 years back if you look at the scenario, then in that situation, it is just enough to study the concepts that have been there in the curriculum. But these days, in the interest of the curriculum, a student has to do as many syllabus programs as possible otherwise it is not possible to sustain in the current market. So, that is why people are looking at colleges or institutions where there is scope for learning more beyond the syllabus.

When you first came to SRIT College what was your vision for the university? Has it evolved and how far along in implementation are you?

Yeah, because I joined SRIT in November 2016. Since then, I have worked at two other institutions before 2016 and the environment at SRIT is completely different. One can say I have a very beautiful environment at SRIT because it has been very much what you call suitable for my mindset. After all, I am a very hardworking person and before 2016, I did not have any such environment which I have found at SRIT. SRIT is a very great platform where a dedicated team is there towards their excellence. It’s a very good platform to work with us. Because SRIT, if you look at the vision of SRIT, it is something that should be very close to the vision of any very good academician. That means by setting up a career, to become a premier institution, we could have an overall development of the system. That is there in us. That is why it has been very happy to work with SRIT.

How does the curriculum of SRIT College ensure the best practice in the industry?

As I said earlier, we have become autonomous in 2019-20. We have the flexibility of adding as many skill-oriented courses, professional electives, and open electives. That’s why we have some flexibility in adding subjects that are needed by the current industry. So, we are conducting regular BOS meetings to take the inputs from the experts in the areas and we are inviting people from the tenants and IITs as well as the university and we are regularly conducting B.O.C. meetings to incorporate all these latest technologies into the courses as a part of our curriculum so that we are incorporating all those things and we are making almost all the students industry ready. We have been associated with many industrial partners like APS, DCS, DCS-I, and AGCS. We have almost 55 industry organizations. So that will train our students to the top.

What should be the college's top priority over the next ten years?

Over the coming ten years, we should become a topper in the coming ten years. Of course, we are trying to get an inner franc of below 50. That is our target within five years. At the same time, we want to establish as many research laboratories as possible with the help of industries in the respective areas. At the same time, we have been lagging in research activity because it’s a B.Tech college. Of course, M. Tech is there but somehow we are not attracting people for M.Tech because we are very strict in attendance and everything. People will not join where attendance is taken seriously.

What are Srinivasa Ramanujan Institute of Technology’s greatest strengths?

We have 40 Ph.D. faculty members among all departments, as well as we have 180 plus faculty members in high disciplines of engineering, as well as non-HMS. We have a well-integrated laboratory and we are establishing two laboratories at the same time. One is APSST and the other is the soil systems frequently we conduct skill-oriented programs with the help of APSST that will help the students enhance their employability skills by doing by gaining knowledge of the current trends and all. So it’s a good thing. And if you look at the placement rate also. So far, we have over 248 participants for this current academic year. It's a dynamic situation also. With the help of our cooperation and the support of all our stakeholders, we have reached that number, and it’s going on also. And no doubt, if I say as a parent I will have two daughters, if the mother, as a parent my priority for my child is to join this institution.

What would you like people to know about your university they may not know?

We have established a mechanism and at the same time, we have so many sins out there that means as a part of the internal quality assurance because we have NACA at Kittu College and have established everything as per the NACA requirements as well as UBC and we have established all the committees and everything as per the EICT also. That means if any student wants to do anything, it’s a good EICT. That means if any student wants to do anything, definitely it’s a good platform for them.
