Vivek Vikram Singh is the Managing Director of SHEAT Varanasi. In his capacity, he is dedicated to creating a safe SHEAT campus where students can maximize their potential while pursuing their educational dreams. His goal is to make sure the SHEAT Group of Institutions is a place where everyone gets to excel in academics, as well as various extracurricular activities. The goal for Mr. Singh is to have educational as well as extracurricular activities so that students can evolve and explore their greatest potential.

SHEAT Varanasi

You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

I have been inspired by my professors from my childhood days. I want to transfer the same values to our students. All our efforts are being put into ensuring the best quality education in Varanasi is given to our students. We have also opened the SHEAT school in Varanasi to ensure the best education from the primary level as well. Since students have to move to either Lucknow or Delhi for proper education my goal was to provide the same here in Varanasi.

The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your college?

SHEAT Varanasi emphasises imparting quality education to achieve excellence in different sectors. Education plays a vast role in the journey of the student and helps them to develop survival skills in this world. I believe that more moral values should be taught in educational institutes as that factor is missing from the students presently. Foreign education focuses on the independence of the students and hence you’ll see the people working at a younger age along with studies. I feel India should adapt this here as well.

How does the curriculum of your college ensure the best practice of industry?

At SHEAT we ensure that high-quality education is provided and for that, we keep proper track of the attendance of the students. We also ensure that everyone’s attendance is more than 75%. We conduct examinations regularly so that students always be in touch with the curriculum and are just reading things a day before to get a good score in the exams. Ultimately, it’s the concept and basics which are going to help you in the long run.

Any insights into how your university could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

We provide scholarships to our students on an academic basis. Even if a student is not fulfilling the government norms of examination, we ensure that their education is not affected due to money issues. Also, we allow our students to pay fees in instalments so that students can pay their complete fees without much burden. We also have uniforms in the institute so that students from rural areas can blend in and not feel inferior.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

One major advice I would like to give to the students is to choose their careers and their institutes wisely. Do not compromise with academic quality over other factors as it is the one thing which will help you most in future. Also, while selecting your stream or branch for higher education, don’t blindly follow your peers. Make sure that you are really into, what fascinates you as a student and where you can give your 100%. If you end up being in a place where you don’t want to be or are not passionate about, you can never deliver your best and also that happiness factor is missing.

What do you see as your college’s greatest strengths?

One of the major strengths of our institute is academics. We have a very qualified and devoted staff team who are always ready to help students academically and personally. Our campus is situated at a distance away from the city which makes it even less polluted and eco-friendly. We have a huge building that encompasses a powerful computer center, well-stocked library, ergonomically designed classrooms, state-of-the-art laboratories, a well-developed workshop, a drawing hall, a seminar hall, a conference hall, faculty rooms, an administrative block and round the clock connectivity to the information super highway internet. The campus also provides open space for playing outdoor games like cricket, football, kabaddi, and volleyball.

What would you like people to know about your university they may not know?

SHEAT has separate hostel facilities for girls and boys. The campus has 24*7 security to ensure 100% safety of the students. The hostels have complete power backup with facilities for indoor games like table tennis, carom, and chess are also available. Our wardens look after the administration of the hostels. Students enjoy a homely and comfortable stay with a sense of camaraderie and fraternity. Hygienic quality food prepared by professionally-qualified cooks is provided to the students in the hostel canteen. Meals provided in the hostel mess are wholesome and nourishing. The mess caters to the tastes of the students with varied culinary preferences are honoured. The mess menu is planned and managed by the students in consultation with the caterer and the management.
