Master of Science [M.S] (Data Science)
Field of Study:
The elite program Data Science is an interdisciplinary program and is carried out jointly by the Department of Statistics and the Institute for Informatics at LMU Munich.Students learn statistical and computational methods for collecting, managing, and analysing large and complex data sets and how to extract knowledge and information from these data sets.Explore:Study in Germany Colleges
The program also comprises courses on data security, data confidentiality, and data ethics. In the practical modules students will tackle real-world problems in cooperation with industrial partners.Upon graduation our students are well prepared for a career as a data scientist in the private or public sector in fields such as applied economics, political science, sociology, education, medicine, public policy, and media research. Students may also pursue a doctoral study in a variety of academic disciplines that require quantitative analysis.

- 1. in order to attend courses with a total of fewer than five hours per week per semester: 100 €
- 2. in order to attend courses with a total of five to eight hours per week per semester: 200 €
- 3. in order to attend courses with a total of more than eight hours per week per semester: 300 €
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Following are the requiremnts:
- Bachelor's degree (180 ECTS) in Statistics or Data Science as a major, minor, or focus.
- At least 150 ECTS (equal to 5 semesters) must be proven, final degree can be submitted later.
- English proficiency B2 (or English degree).
- German knowledge A1 (or German school or university degree), can be submitted later during the first year of studies.

- Certified copy of university entrance qualification in the original language
- Certified copies of all university certificates, degree certificates, transcripts of records (with grading scale) and, if available, diploma supplements in the original language and in translation (if required, see above). For applicants from the USA Transcripts in closed Envelope are needed. - Complete CV without gaps up to the date of application submission - Registration certificate and confirmation of all programs studied at German universities (
- Written approval issued by the relevant master's degree or doctoral studies degree course or the doctoral committee responsible

- It is on of the best universities in the world for Data Science.
Overall it is a nice experience. Obviously getting acquainted with the new life style and teaching is challenging and will initially be difficult, but it gets better with time. Attending lectures in the University instead of sitting at home and watching them online definitely helps.

Ludwig Maximillian University does not offer M.Sc. Neuro psychology course to the students.
Ludwig Maximilian University offers an M.Sc Public Health program but does not offer M.Sc in Dental Public Health. The said program is a German-taught program and students seeking admission in this program have to submit a valid German Language Proficiency test score.
