IICD Detailed Entrance Exam Pattern 2024

IICD Entrance Test 2024 includes two papers followed by Personal Interview. All the processes are conducted on the same day.

  • First paper is based on General Awareness, Creativity and Perception Test while the second paper is based on Material, Color and Conceptual Ability Test.
  • Both the tests are conducted for both UG and PG admissions and hold a similar examination pattern, just the level of questions changes.
  • Both the papers are of 2 hours duration
  • The maximum marks allocated in case of both papers in 100.

Let’s take a closer look at the examination pattern for both the papers of IICD Entrance Test 2024:

General Awareness, Creativity and Perception Test

  • This test will contain a total of 31 questions.
  • First 25 questions of the test will be General Awareness questions, which will be Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Question numbered 26 to 30 will be visual observation based questions; these questions will also be Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Question number 31 will be creative writing question, in this question, candidates will be given two topics in which they will have to write a short essay.

Material, Color and Conceptual Ability Test

  • This test is divided into 2 sections, Section A and Section B.
  • Section A is the Material Test where candidates will be given certain materials and candidate have to create something out of it.
  • Candidates are also required to explain in around 50 words about what they have made and write it on the sheet provided.
  • Section B is the Color and Conceptual Ability Test, in this test also candidates will be given some materials and they will have to create something using that material. Candidates will also have to write about the composition and color scheme of the thing that they have created.

The exam pattern for UG and PG courses will not vary too much in terms of total marks, time allotted, type of questions, etc. There can be a slight change is number of questions asked in PG examination in Creativity and Perception and Material, Color and Conceptual Ability Test, but the crux of test is exactly same.

The marking scheme for IICD Entrance Examination 2024 is fairly simple. Let us take a look at some of the highlights of marking scheme of IICD Entrance Exam 2024:

  • The total weightage for both the papers is 100.
  • IICD Entrance Exam 2024 has no negative marking.
  • The number of marks that a question carries will be mentioned along with the question.
  • The allotment of marks in creative writing and the questions will be based on the quality of answer provided by the candidate.
  • Scoring full marks for each question in this section is highly improbable.
  • Candidates will be given full marks if he/she answers a Multiple Choice Question Correctly.

General Awareness, Creativity and Perception Test

  • The first 25 questions on General Awareness will carry one mark each.
  • Next 5 questions on visual observation will carry 5 marks each.
  • The remaining questions will be creative writing questions; they will carry a total weightage of 50 marks. However, the number of questions may vary from 2 to 4 for UG and PG examination. Marks for each question will thus be adjusted and mentioned along with each question.

Material, Color and Conceptual Ability Test

  • Section A of Material Usage Test will be 50 marks, the number of questions here may differ for UG and PG test. The marks for each question will thus be adjusted and mentioned along with each question.
  • Section B of Color and Conceptual Ability Test will be of 50 marks, the number of questions here may differ for UG and PG test. The marks for each question will thus be adjusted and mentioned along with each question.

Indian Institute of Craft and Design will not specify any syllabus for IICD Entrance Test 2024. To define syllabus for such an entrance will actually impose restriction on the creativity of the candidates which this exam aims to judge.

Important Instructions

Important Instructions to Fill IICD Entrance Exam 2024 OMR Sheet

Candidates are advised to carefully go through some important instructions to fill OMR sheets while appearing for IICD Entrance Exam 2024. It is very important to follow the instructions to avoid any discrepancy in the exam: 

  • Reach the examination center on time, preferably an hour before the time of start of examination.
  • Don’t forget to carry their Admit Card and Valid ID proof to the examination hall.
  • Candidates need not carry any pen, pencil or design material along with them. Everything will be provided at the examination hall.
  • Writing anything or leaving any stray marks on the paper is strictly prohibited.
  • Candidates must show originality and creativity in their creations and writings.
  • Copied creative pieces would be summarily rejected or lead to disqualification of candidates.
