BSc Nursing Post Basic is a 2 years course which is designed to enhance nursing skills of professionals who already have a background in nursing or a similar field.The basic eligibility criteria are that students should have completed Class 12 with a certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) and should have registration as Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives (RNRM).
The admission process includes students’ performance in the written entrance exam conducted at the university/college level. But in colleges like Chitkara University, admission is provided on the basis of merit. See Also: BSc Nursing Admission
The common PB BSc Nursing subjects will include Nursing Foundation, Psychology, Medical & Surgical Nursing, Microbiology, and Maternal Nursing, among others. Apart from the regular course, students can for distance education from IGNOU for under INR 60,000 for a total of 3-5 years.

What is BSc Nursing (Post Basic) Admission Process?
BSc Nursing (Post Basic) Admission is varied in nature, as various institutes have their very own criteria. However, selection is done on the basis of marks obtained in the aptitude test, interview, written test, etc. based on performance in which candidates are allotted seats.
Weightage is also given in the candidate’s marks obtained in Class 12 and in the GNM course.
Do I Qualify BSc Nursing (Post Basic) Eligibility Criteria?
Following are the BSc Nursing (Post Basic) eligibility criteria to be satisfied in order to gain admission to the course:
- Candidates who wish to apply for these courses need to have qualified for the GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) course after attaining the 10+2 or equivalent qualification, preferably with Science subjects.
- Candidates not having done GNM are required to have a certificate in any of the nursing courses of 6-9 months.
- Candidates should also be Registered Nurses/ Registered midwives or equivalent with any of the State Nursing Registration Councils.
Also, the applicant is required to have a sound working knowledge of English, be medically fit, and possess a good personal and professional record of 1-2 years.
