Campus Life:

We got plethora of workshops to get industrial as well as practical knowledge. It was aimed at overall growth of each and every student in the campus. It was mix of male and female there was no parity for that and no type of discrimination in total. We got decent amount of sexual orientation classes.

College Events:

Cultural events are the best. But it doesn’t mean that the management and other events are less important. It was a city based orientation program conducted by our colleagues and therefore it was very famous all over in the state of Karnataka. Even ministers have participated for the events.

Here we have celebrity night, dj night clash of bands ets this is a thrilling week of college life held every year. This year the dates are 24 - 29 feb.

Admission:

I took admission through REAP. It is basically a merit list which arrange all the applicant on the basis of percentage in 12 as well as jee marks. I have got 48 in jee and scored 71 in 12th. In REAP you have a option list between all the college under RTU.In which we can select a college of our choice as well as the branch. I am in electrical engineering.

Alumni/Alumna:

The alumni network of our Institute is very strong and they are placed in big companies at national and international level and also some of them own their own business and help the students of their streams in every possible way whether it be the internships or the training program or even with providing jobs.

Fee Structure And Facilities:

The annual fee for our program is 65 thousand rupees approximately which is I think feasible and the best part is that we don't have to pay any extra fees for securing our admission to the college. Fees for other courses in the college are also feasible and students seem to have no complaints about it.

Placement Experience:

Placement drive starts right from the beginning of third semester, faculties do help in cracking the interview by preparing us to go through pre placement talk, gathering key points about the company, fetching the role and understanding it. Most of the financial companies and banks like Tata AIG, Axis bank, HDFC bank, IndusInd, Karvy came and also few IT companies like Tech Mahindra and Sophia Steria came for placement drive. 85% got placed. For fresher the company offered CTC till 3LPA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

MBA has only provided me with knowledge of business ideas and situations to analyze business but helped in gathering a clear communication, personality development and professionalism. Our course structure not only included the business management subject but also we got opportunity to study french as a additional language during our curriculum. Summer internship, research thesis, self grooming session, live project and many more has helped me in gathering confidence in myself.

● Top Answer By Epil Gagrai on 02 Apr 24

Ans. MBA Tourism in IIM Sirmaur is an unique program offered by very few IIMs. It is a 2-year program that provides knowledge and helps to develop a career in the tourism industry. The program has 60 seats and the fees is INR 16 lakhs for 2 years. The admission process is same as that of MBA program i.e. CAT followed by Personal Interview. Ques. How is Pondicherry University for an MBA in tourism?

● Top Answer By Vivan Sridhar on 29 Sept 21

Ans. The Department of Tourism Studies of the Pondicherry University offers an MBA in Tourism & Travel Management. It is one of the rarest courses in India and the course here is actually pretty good.  You will have a Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) where you can choose certain “Soft core” subjects offered by the department apart from the “Hard core” subjects which are compulsory for the course completion. There are mid semester, end semester as well as internal assessment exams.  A 40:60 ratio weightage is given to the mid-semester and internal assessment exam to the end semester exam.  You need to achieve at least 40% in the end semester and 50% on aggregate to pass the subject. The department organizes two tours each year; a 5-7 day, Eco-tour and a 10-15 days national tour.  Apart from that there are various field visits during your coursework as well.  World Tourism Day is also celebrated with much flamboyance each year. Overall I would say that it is a very good course with lots of practical knowledge and experience. The faculty are also knowledgeable and offer very good insights into the industry. The exposure and experience you will get here is really very nice.Read more

Ques. Is it worth to do tourism and hospitality management course from IIM Sirmaur for the sake of IIM tag?

● Top Answer By Divya Pandey on 19 Jan 23

Ans. One very important aspect that people forget while choosing colleges is the leader under which the college performs. Without effective leadership, any new IIM will become a worthless B School. One such example is IIM Trichy. IIM Trichy prospered under the leadership of Director Sri Prafulla Agnihotri who made Trichy what it is today. He constructed it from scratch. Through his relentless efforts, he was able to attract top professors and build a sound faculty base. He managed to provide the best through the temporary campus itself. The same person Director Sri Prafulla Agnihotri is now leading IIM Sirmaur so I can say with conviction that if not immediately, then gradually Sirmaur’s brand name will improve magnificently in the years to come. So surely it is worth joining IIM Sirmaur and do the Tourism and Hospitality course.Read more

Ques. What are the prospects of doing an MBA in tourism and hospitality from IIM Sirmaur? How would it compare with core MBA courses from other private AA and A grade MBA institutes?

● Top Answer By Surya Pal Singh on 19 Jan 23

Ans. Both the courses give an edge to each other and cannot be compared. MBA T and HM are specialized courses that should be taken only if you are inclined toward the field. It helps you to establish a career and knowledge of the Tourism and Hospitality industry.  The 2-year MBA flagship course has been standing for more than 2 years and therefore its curriculum cannot be compared to that of these recently launched courses. Some perks of these courses are  Become a part of the legacy. Learn how to build everything from scratch by founding or becoming part of clubs and committees. International Job opportunities  Himachal is famous for its tourism because of its beautiful landscapes. The tourism sector of Himachal Pradesh contributes 7% to the state GDP. You can contribute to promoting Tourism, increasing its capacities to serve foreigners while remaining settled in your hometown. So this course is very beneficial for people who have a keen interest in tourism.Read more

Ques. Which is better, IIM Sirmaur tourism and hospitality or FMS BHU?

● Top Answer By Kumar Abhijit on 19 Jan 23

Ans. FMS BHU gives an edge to IIM Sirmaur in almost every aspect. The fact that it is a baby IIM yet to establish its position in the industry is the main drawback of IIM Sirmaur. Even its IIM tag lacks credibility and worth because of its weak alumni base and below average placements. However, if you are specifically choosing IIM for the course and not the tag, then you might go for it. FMS BHU is one of the leading B Schools technically due to its early establishment. It has an upper hand in the following aspects when compared to IIM Sirmaur Better placements than IIM Sirmaur Strong alumni base Better infrastructure and faculty  The table below draws a slight comparison between the placement scenarios of the 2 B Schools Particulars  IIM Sirmaur FMS BHU Number of students participated  183 174 Number of students placed 183 168 Number of Recruiters  140 44 Highest CTC INR 26.50 LPA INR 18 LPA Average CTC  INR 12.74 LPA INR 9.7 LPARead more
