Campus Life

Students actively participate in clubs, fests, and cultural events, which create a lively atmosphere. The environment is friendly and supportive, helping students build strong friendships and grow personally. Overall, the campus life is enjoyable and adds memorable experiences to college life. The annual fest of Hansraj college is "Confluence".it is typically held in march-April There are enough books for each course and there is also a simple process to issue them The sports ground are also big and good there is also an indoor ground of badminton, table tennis also

As i told befor there is avery strong and good bond between teachers and student we touch there feet as per indian manner to take there blessing and we try not to create any difficulties for our clasmates as well as for our teachers.there are like 30 teachers including HOD and our respected principal mam. They take care all 387 students as good they can and i never fell any inconvenience in my collage life. There are 3 faculties for each subject and sometimes we relate with someone and sometimmes we dont beacause is a higer education and each teacher have there own method of teching so i liked 4 teachers each of every subject and they are great at there work. They conduct parcticals very smoothly and as i saw the students also corelate to them. It will disrespectful to not liking any teacher. They are reached this level so sure they have talent but its impossible for a student to relate with every teacher so i dont have any dislikeness for my any teacher. The collage coduct 4 exams per year. 3 are lightweighted ahort 20 mark exam and one hard 100 anuual exam gor students

Fees and Financial Aid

I paid arround 5000rs for 2 year of higer education study. There are no such tution fee cation fee and lab fee . This collage is mannged by government of odisha . I registered for this collage at 300rs and the admission fee is 4000 for those students who choose to study information technology as ther forth subject. After that i paid 1000rs for my second year of study there is no other hidden fee in between that.If you are a girl or Sc and ST the price deducted arround 4000. There are some batch mates who are SC ST catogory they paid arround 3000 for 1 st year admission fee and then paid 800 for 2nd year.as it is a government operated collage the fees are very low as you can see nad there are hostel benifit for those students who came from far from collage and the hostel fees are also very cheap any one can affort it. There are some scolarship and merit systum for catagory students who were choosen by government.

Course Curriculum Overview

The overall perspective is 3 out of 5 The course which we are studying and the college provides are outdated and not as per today's need , but this curriculum are for those who want to have further studies in their field . The curriculum and time table is also good but the SEC , VAC , are time wasting, the college can provide some extra courses over them to make students skills good according to today's need

Examination System and Marking Scheme: The examination pattern includes both internal assessments and end-semester examinations: Internal Assessment (IA): Accounts for 25% of the total grade. The IA marks are distributed among assignments, presentations, tests, and attendance. Students are informed about the IA break-up at the beginning of each course, and those unable to participate are given opportunities for retests. • End-Semester Examinations: Constitute 75% of the total grade. The University of Delhi employs a grading system where students must secure at least 40% in both theory and practical components to pass.Examination Difficulty and Pass Rates The difficulty of examinations can vary by course and subject. Hansraj College maintains high academic standards, and while many students perform well, some may find certain exams challenging. Specific statistics on pass rates are not publicly detailed, but the college provides academic support to help students succeed. Course Curriculum Relevance The curriculum at Hansraj College is designed to be comprehensive and up-to-date, aligning with current academic and industry standards. Regular revisions ensure that the courses remain relevant, preparing students effectively for further studies and professional pursuits. Dr. Taruna singh, Dr. chetna Gupta and Dr. Shailendra Kumar Singh these all are very friendly that's why they are favourite for almost whole class not only me. Dr. Shampa bhattacharya and gagandeep, I don't like both of them cause they are sometimes very strict at tiny things and treat some students very bad.

Internships Opportunities

An annual flagship event, the internship fair, is organised by the internship cell to connect students with potential employers. In 2022 over 3200 students assembled for it and over 40 companies like byjus, bajaj capital, Josh talks, decathlon, extramakrs and other IT companies too. Average stipend is about 10000 per month along with the duration of 2 months with flexible timings like part time and full time too. Internship roles span various fields, allowing students to engage in meaningful projects that enhance their professional skills. For instance, students have undertaken roles such as Financial Research Interns, where they conducted market analyses and financial modeling, contributing to strategic decision-making processes. In Marketing internships, students have developed and implemented campaigns, analyzed consumer behavior, and managed social media platforms, leading to increased brand engagement. These experiences not only provide practical exposure but also significantly enhance students' employability by equipping them with industry-relevant skills.

Faculty

i have the best set of faculty members. my professors are extremely approachable and they show keen interest in my studies. they always help aim for more. since my college is under the affiliation of calcutta university, it follows the curriculum of the same. if the classes are followed regularly, along with some seriousness on the student's part, they can easily clear the exams. my faculty includes the HOD, DR SABARI GHOSH, who is my organic chem professor, DR SHUBHATAM SEN AND DR MOUSHUMI BANERJEE, my inorganic and physical chem professors. all the three of them are the best set of mentors i have recieved in my life, they encourage me everyday and also make the class as engaging as possible.

Campus Life

this is one of the minus points of my college. they do not have any fests as such. however, many events do take place where you can showcase your talents, but they are not widely recognised. also, for bsc students after the 1st year taking part in any events is almost impossible due to the course load. the classrooms have smartboards with internet access, and the college has registered to N LIST which has a wide range of journals to choose from for your dissertation work. sports meet take place annually in the month of feb or march and theres also various number of clubs you can participate in.

Course Curriculum Overview

My decision of choosing bsc hons and that too in chemistry was entirely based on my interest in the subject but when i got enrolled this course is divided btw practicals and theory so there are 8 hours a week lab/practical classes that we have to attend ao it is sort of hectic and you might loss your interest in the course and abt the relevance this course is not that relevant as you have to give atleast 10 years of your life( 3 yrs of bsc then 2 yrs of msc and 5 yrs of phd ) only then you will be able to get a job of a professor at a repeuted university. So while selecting this course you have to keep these things in mind.

Faculty

Look our college's chemistry department is one of the best in the country but it is only one side of the coin as the other side which means the faculty is divided into 2 sections so one section gets the best faculty but the other section might struggle with the faculty as they are not that good as compared to the professors of other section.

The relationship between the faculty and students are normal and is approachable. There are many good faculties and i like almost all of it. I don't like the chemistry faculty for not providing enough lab equipments. There are two internal assessment and one external assessment in each semester. The exams are pretty tough for some students and easy for some it depends on the students but many passes.

Course Curriculum Overview

I like the subject (Chemistry) because it is interesting in a way. We get to know many new things. The teachers doesn't care much about preparing us for any such pursuits. There is need for improvements in many curriculums and teaching methods. The class starts by 9AM in the morning and ends by 2:30PM in the afternoon.

My campus life is not that good. Like I had joined many societies, but it seems that I had nothing because one ñ only society they focus is dancing, ñ art society. So if you're joining societies, then plz choose carefully.

it was too good. Fest took place during March-April every year. And no doubt it is the best experience for anyone here at north campus. Library was quite big in my college with digital check in and check out. Almost all books ranging from science, arts and culture were there. Sports were important part of my college life. Hansraj is the only college with Shooting range arena. Archery. Basketball, Indoor badminton, Volleyball and cricket were some other games.

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio was around 1:50. Faculty student relationship was good. My favorite fcaluty was SP Sir. Other best faculties are Shampa Battacharya, Renu MAAM and Nidhi Maam for physical chemistry. Chetna Maam for inorganic chemistry. Every year we had semester based exams twice. Exams were easy to moderate with practicals they aimed to test the practical knowledge of the students.

1:20 is faculty student ratio . Proffesors are literally easily available and you can reach them out anytime . Proffesors are friendly and nicely mannered . Exams are mid and almost 99% students clear out exams. Course curriculum is relevant and nice . My HOD , all prof's are so good . I just don't like my physical chemistry proffesor . His teaching style sucks although he have a good sense of humor but teachimg is awful .

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee is 18k per year from chemistry hons. Additionally 1900 rs at the time of exam enrollment are taken . Other than exam fee and tuition fee there are no additional charges. Many scholarships prevail for physically disabled students, single girl child and more , there are given particular sum of amount on the basis of their clg performance ie cgpa . You must have 8.5+ gpa for that .

Ques. What is the integrated MSc in chemistry at IIT Kharagpur?

● Top Answer By Senjuti Gupta on 23 Mar 23

Ans. M.Sc Chemistry at IIT Kharagpur is a five-year integrated MSc course offered by the Department of chemistry.  In the first year, all the courses will be the same for all the departments. Out of these courses, only one is chemistry. Other courses are from other departments like Electrical, computer science, Mechanical, Physics, etc. Here, you are given a chance to explore at least one course from most of the departments. Based on your performance in first year (i.e CGPA) you can change your department (also called Depc). But for this, you need to get a CGPA of more than the cut-off CGPA of the department to which you want to change.  For instance suppose, Electrical Engineering department has a cut-off CGPA of 9.2 for DepC then you need to get a CGPA of more than 9.2 for DepC to Electrical.  From the second year most of the courses will be from your department. Though, there will be a few courses from other departments as well. So, yes you will be studying mostly Chemistry from the second year onward. you can look at the complete Curricula Subjects List hereRead more

Ques. Which of these is better in IIT Kanpur: BSC in Chemistry/Physics, Earth Science, Biological Science or Engineering?

● Top Answer By Vidhita Kapoor on 24 Apr 23

Ans. It depends on what you are interested in and what career you want to pursue. My personal suggestion would be to make IIT Delhi your first preference. First, if you are a civil services aspirant, get admission into IIT Delhi in any branch and prepare for UPSC through the various coaching institutes available. If you are somehow not able to make it into IIT Delhi, then invest another year preparing for JEE and aim for a higher rank. Once you are able to make it into IIT Kanpur, again you need to work hard for one year to get a branch change into Civil. You will be competing with geniuses from CS and ME but keep yourself motivated. A CPI of 7+ will make it possible to get a branch change. Attend your classes regularly, complete your assignments on time and you are good to go. Lastly, if you are unable to change your branch, go for pure sciences like Physics, Chemistry, BSBE, or Earth Science. Out of these Physics and chemistry have a heavy workload and it will be tough to cope with your batchmates. BSBE has pathetic placements. Another option is Earth Sciences which in my opinion is the best considering the light workload and job opportunities. The average CPI is lesser than other branches and most of its courses overlap with Civil Engineering. Basically, Earth Sciences is equivalent to Civil Engineering just without the Engineering element.Read more

Ques. Which is better for a B.Sc (hons.) in chemistry, St. Stephens College or Hindu College? Please answer with reference to fee structures and teacher

● Top Answer By Ritik Bose on 14 Aug 20

Ans. Below given table shows a comparison between the two of the best colleges under Delhi University to pursue B. Sc (Hons.) in Chemistry. ST. STEPHENS HINDU NIRF RANKING #1 #3 TOTAL FEES (APPROX.) 1.2 LACS 55K ACCREDITED NAAC ‘A’ GRADE NAAC ‘A+’ GRADE Academics: According to previous year, the cut off for admission to Hindu college for B. Sc (hons.) in Chemistry was 96.66% and in St. Stephen's it was 92%. The faculty contingency in both the colleges is very well reputed, dedicated and felicitated having won many recognitions to their name. It is not justified to distinguish between the teachers as all are almost at par with academic qualifications, achievements but are restricted by curriculum and different teaching patterns. Both the colleges organize national conferences and workshops for the holistic development of the students and to gain industry exposure. Placement Opportunities: The key feature which sets Stephen's apart is that when it comes to applying abroad for higher studies or internships or fellowship programmes, a lot of graduates have had the opportunity to do so owing to the scholarships and collaborations with foreign universities like Oxford, Yale and Cambridge. It has a more disciplined and rigorous and calm aura about itself not being as actively a part of the very famous DU fests as compared to other colleges. There are many ongoing research projects funded by SERB and UGC. Top recruiters being Hetero drugs, Emami, Homi Bhaba Centre for Science Education, BCG etc. offering a median salary of around 9LPA. In the Hindu college, the median salary package for B. Sc in Chemistry at offer was 5LPA and average placement rate was low as most of the graduates sought to opt for higher studies. The top recruiters were DE Shaw, KPMG, IndiaBulls amongst others. Organizations like Empower India, Philip Morris International, Outlook rolled out internship opportunities too.Read more

Ques. Which one is the best for a BSc in chemistry (hons) amongst: St. Xavier's, Presidency and Jadavpur University?

● Top Answer By Aditi Banerjee on 15 May 23

Ans. The best choice for a BSc in Chemistry in my opinion would be Jadavpur University. This is one of the best universities in Kolkata second only to IISER in terms of quality of education offered. The chemistry department of JU specifically is the best among other science departments. It has the most learned and experienced faculty pool of around 36 full-time qualified professors. Its infrastructure is better than most colleges in Kolkata. There is a downside to JU considering its high involvement in politics. However, individually you can refrain from being involved, which won’t affect your academics much. Nevertheless, as a science student, you will hardly get time to involve yourself in anything non-academic like politics.  St Xaviers College too is a decent choice followed by Presidency University. Next comes St Xavier's College. And then Presidency University.  While the general preference order would be JU>St Xaviers>Presidency University, the final decision will depend on your personal goals and inclinations.Read more

Ques. Which is better for a B.Sc in Chemistry (Hons.), St. Xavier's Kolkata or Jadavpur University?

● Top Answer By Ipsha Sharma on 22 Feb 21

Ans. The general preference is that none of the two colleges is a feasible option for pursuing B.Sc (Chemistry). The reasons behind this are listed separately below for both the colleges: Xavier’s is not a good option for chemistry. The faculty is not equipped in teaching in-depth concepts. They do not provide the requisite exposure for broadening a student's knowledge base. A general tendency of faculties is that they don’t recommend books. A huge amount of knowledge is gained by using internet sources which in turn makes them dependent on electronic sources. Internal politics is also an inevitable element of the campus culture. A lot of distraction is inherent in the day-to-day activities. Jadavpur University also gives very less exposure in terms of the knowledge base. A large amount of attention is focused on internal politics which hampers the educational and professional growth of the candidates. Both the colleges reflect quite a dismal picture for this particular course, but even if the choice has to be made it will shift towards Xavier’s Kolkata as in: It is the only NAAC Accredited A++ institute in West Bengal making your degree more reputed and acceptable. It will provide larger scope for better career options in the market. It allows individuals to look out to different personality domains of a candidate as it gives opportunity in the form of various cultural & social events. Overall, Xavier’s is a better option than Jadavpur University in every aspect.Read more

Ques. How good is Khalsa College Amritsar for a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Chemistry?

● Top Answer By Debanjan Nag on 28 Dec 21

Ans. Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology (KCET) is located in Amritsar, Punjab, India. According to the reviews online, Khalsa College is really good when it comes to overall campus atmosphere, practicals and inter college activities. It was the first one to offer a B.Sc. course in Punjab. But the academics and curriculum is average and needs a lot of improvement. There are only a limited number of the companies visiting the campus every year for all the departments. The faculty and management staff are not very cooperative. The faculty often skips classes and are unable to complete the syllabus. This has led to students opting for self studying rather than regularly attending classes. It is suggested that you look for other options as well, because to succeed ahead you will require better guidance and approach for the course.Read more

Ques. Which is the best university to study UG course in chemistry zoology CU, BU, KU or WBSU?

● Top Answer By Saloni Ray, on 20 Oct 21

Ans. One of my friends studied at Calcutta University, so I might be able to give you some details about it. Calcutta University (CU) is one of the oldest functioning institutions in West Bengal. It is popular among students. In Calcutta, most of the colleges are affiliated with CU. The one thing that every CU student is familiar with is their strict grading system. Scoring even a 60% is very difficult. Some students even think this is a good enough score if you are a student of CU. Nowadays top reputed MNCs also demand at least 60% to be able to sit for placements. Finally, you should keep in mind that other mentioned universities may not be as old and experienced as CU, but they will show a bit of leniency while giving marks. So ultimately the decision is yours, whether you want to study in a reputed university with a strong and reliable alumni network or opt for the easier way out by getting admission to newer institutions.Read more
