Faculty:

Faculties are of all types , some are very polite with you , some are not very polite. There are some teachers who lack knowledge, but there are some with great knowledge about their particular subject . In every college you can find different types of faculties. The exam structure consists of two internals of 30 marks , out of which their average is taken . Quizzes and surprise tests for 10-10 marks . That adds the total to 50 . And the rest 50 marks are for external exams which are of 100 marks which are later converted into 50 . This adds upto 100.

Placement Experience:

Placements are a disaster in this college since the pandemic. There are a lot of companies that come to the college but go back without hiring anyone. The placement coordinator currently doesn't talk to the companies in a good manner, therefore the companies blacklisting the college. One great student takes 50 offers and then wastes it as there is no one to stop him/her , as there is no placement cell present. The companies that arrive in the college complains about the placement department because of mistreatment.

Campus Life:

Very small campus. Well, this is the only thing which disappoints its students. Most of the time is spent between classrooms and the canteen as there is no other place to hang out. The library is well equipped but only with the course books. The fest has not happened for 4 years so I do not advise having hopes from the college.

Fees and Financial Aid:

There are many scholarships available for those who need it. The placement cell is very active in giving opportunities but once you are placed, you cannot sit for higher offers even if you are eligible. There is only one offer which you can get.

The bigger fest which is conducted here is furore and the smaller one is called vibration. There are many clubs here many technical clubs where we can learn about codings and all and many other clubs are there management club is their stage management team is there there are many clubs for everyone. The library is too big with everything available to us.

The annual fest and tech fest are known as Furore and Vibrations respectively, Then it's one of the best in Bangalore. Hasn't been conducted lately since covid took over. The library is quiet and fantastic, A great place to study!! Sports and clubs are like any other tier 2 College.

Fees and Financial Aid:

The fees are one of the biggest cons of this college. Hikes have been apparently too hard to cope with. With a rise of 20k rupee this year. College fee remains the biggest concern among the students. Scholarships are minimum, You'd get 5000 at Max after getting a 10 pointer.

Before the 7th semester A lot of companies, some companies take 5 students , some 20, some 1, Depends on the company. Highest package is around 15 - 22LPa lowest is around 3 - 4Lpa. 50-80% get placed, but placement department doesn't allow all branches to sit sometimes which is a slight disadvantage Work

Internships Opportunities:

Few companies come for internship+full time, some come for only placement, that is a full time, some come only for internship. The stipend for internships is generally 30k-50k. Internships can be 2 months or 6 months. Based on one's performance during these internships, they are offered pre-placement

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have opted for E&C but I got TC which are almost the same except for the final year. The strength of the class was 60, it was pretty much good compared to other departments where it was around 80-100 per class. Lecturers are highly qualified and friendly. Department Head is a bit strict when it comes to attendance and students behaviour which is good but sometimes as students, we found it irritating, but thanks to the facilities that we didn't lag in our academics. HOD has the least in other curriculum activities as I noticed. The teaching method of more than half of the faculty was good and very few lecturer's teaching was a bit boring. Our college was affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University so the semester exams were according to the university schedule. Exam terms used to last for 30 to 40 days for each semester along we had 3 monthly internals. The exam's difficulty rate is moderate.

Placement Experience:

The placement was provided for almost all the branches but the highest opportunity was for CS, IS department. Students can attend the placements from the 6th semester for a few of the companies but from the 7th semester for almost all the companies. I think we had more than 200 companies in our college for placements and the companies we got for TC Department is around 30 companies. As far as I know, the maximum package was 21lakh for CS students that too only 1 or no candidate will be selected (it's rare) for telecommunication engineering branch our maximum package was 7lakhs p.a. The average package is 3.5-4 lakhs p.a. I got placed in one of the telecom based companies so I joined the company just in 15 days of completion of my graduation.

Placement Experience:

The average package in campus placement is 4LPA whereas the maximum is 12LPA. Companies such as TCS, Wipro, tata elxsi, Infosys, Accenture, hcl many others visit. Every year around 50% of students get placed. My plan is to get a job after my degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course electronics and telecommunication are one of the most rapidly evolving course due to e-vehicles and 5G generation. Our college has excellent faculty members, where each one of them has an experience of 18 to 22 years in their filed. It has good placement results. To mention as an example, if 35 are eligible for campus interview all the 32 have got placed in recent years. The student-faculty ratio is around 60:10. All the faculty members have pursued a Master's degree and a PhD in respective fields. We get our final exams results based on internal assessment and external exams. Exams are not so difficult but in the same way, they're not so easy too. We need to prepare ourselves well as our faculty help and teach us in all ways.

Campus Life:

The annual fest will take place every year in May, which will be for 3 days. There will be ethnic day and sports day. Electronics and telecommunication branch has tech fest named telegma where models and project such as robots, circuits and other related things can be designed. There is an alumni and student contact app called "Instagram" Created and launched by students of our college. That app is used to clear doubts about career, profession and competitive exams. The campus is spacious with the good library as well as placement cell.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Telecommunications was equivalent to electronics and evergreen. Before taking the course I asked my seniors and they suggested that telecommunications are good. Well, this stream has less number of students compared to other 20:10 is the student ratio. The faculties are extremely friendly and approachable. They encourage students to take up and organize technical talks every month. Students have access to the department library and digital library as well we can browse the internet and search about various projects. All the faculties hold Masters in respective subjects. Lab attendees hold a diploma in respective subjects. The assignment was given every week and assignment questions were based on previous year question paper which was very useful during exams. The exams were held during December and June. We were made to focus on important topics and made to repeat the labs most number of times. It became easy during lab practicals.

Campus Life:

'Ananya' is our college fest which happens in March every year the college hosts a series of events and other cultural activities. The representatives will invite other college students to our college for technical talks and tech events such as hackathons and coding challenges. 1) My JEE rank was not so good that can provide NIT atleast then By seeing ranking in Wbjee college list, I found an autonomous college with good reputation about placement, attendance ratio and there is no special uniform for college 2) Course syllabus is updated,Some facilities are good and some are worst. You will mostly use books or online stuff for study. As our library is best, you will find many book online and offline too, there is also digital library which is very helpful

Ques. I got NIT Surathkal ECE and IIIT Bangalore CSE. I am joining IIIT Bangalore CSE, is it a good decision?

● Top Answer By Aditi Banerjee on 14 Sept 23

Ans. This is a very subjective question. However, as a student of ECE at NIT Surathkal, I am writing down a few points in defense of my degree- First of all, NIT Surathkal offers a much more complete and diversified engineering education. This is because you will get to interact with the students of various disciplines from around the institution. This will offer a good exposure in contrast to the IIITs which are entirely focused on CSE and ECE branches. ECE is the branch of the future. CSE is turning more and more into a commodity. This is due to the dilution of its educational standards, and the increasing volume of students in this branch.  As an ECE student, you can always learn programming (it is in fact a part of the curriculum in a limited manner). However, it is much more difficult to learn the concepts of ECE as a CSE student.  As an ECE student you can be placed in a software company, but as a CSE student you can’t work in the E&C field.  Both the colleges are good, but NITK holds more prestige because it is much older. Its campus is very impressive as well. But even IIIT Bangalore CSE is a great option. Once you’ve made a decision, stop seeking others’ opinions. Instead, work on your skill enhancement. Considering the sheer lack of core jobs in the electronics sector in India and the huge placement opportunities in the IT sector, your choice is good from a placement point of view. Read more

Ques. How is ABES EC as an engineering college and what are its downfalls?

● Top Answer By Gaurav Sharma on 10 Mar 22

Ans. Overall ABES EC is an average engineering college at best. Here are some of the pros and cons of joining the institutes.  Pros:  It has great infrastructural facilities. There is centralized AC for all blocks in the whole college. The lush green campus will soothe your eyes. The hostel accommodation is well furnished and maintained regularly.  There are many food courts that sell good quality food at reasonable prices. The campus has a big stadium that conducts different cricket matches. Some of the faculty members are cooperative and student-friendly.  The ABES EC placement scenario is decent. The average CTC offered to students is around INR 6 LPA. There are many clubs like Samvaad Theatre Group, Technovation, etc. in which you can take part.  Cons:  ABES EC has a strict 75% attendance rule. Failing to maintain this can lead to detention.  The institute calls parents if they don’t attend your class.  The hostel curfew timing for girls is strict. You need to be inside the hostel premises at 6 pm during winter and 6:30 pm during summer.  The video will take you on a tour across the ABES Capus Overall, your time at ABES EC will be a bittersweet one. Read more

Ques. How are the ECE placements at Thapar University?

● Top Answer By Tania Sharma on 03 Aug 23

Ans. In general, there are very limited core placement opportunities in ECE because of the limited scope in this field especially in India. ECE placements at Thapar University are no different. As a whole, ECE placements here are decent because mostly consultancies and management visits for recruitment. The only issue is that core jobs are very less. But on the bright side, students of Thapar University can sit for placements in all branches thereby opening more gates of opportunities for them. This makes up for the lack of core jobs.  I asked a friend about the placements scenario of ECE and she shared a few pieces of information Around 60-65% of students get placed in the ECE department. The highest salary package offered is 30 LPA,  The lowest salary package is 4 LPA,  The average salary package is 6 LPA to 7 LPA.  Top Recruiters are Amazon, WDC Gameskraft, McKinsey, JP Morgan, etc.  Around 75% of students get internship offers in roles such as SDE, member of technical staff, and quant. In all, ECE placements at Thapar University are average. Read more

Ques. How is ECE in IIIT Hyderabad?

● Top Answer By Souvick Gupta on 02 Aug 23

Ans. The ECE program at IIIT Hyderabad is more focused on IT than Electronics because IIIT Hyderabad itself is an IT institute. Other colleges have a lot of non-IT courses in the first year  of their ECE program whereas IIIT Hyderabad ECE has no such courses in the firsts year  ECE stands for many things in different places. ECE in IIIT is Electronics and communication engineering. However, unlike Electronics in other institutes. IIIT Hyderabad ECE program does not include courses such as electrical machines, electric drives, power systems, power electronics, and related labs and workshops.  The students of both ECE and CSE at IIIT Hyderabad are taught common courses sin the first year after which students can take CS courses as electives. Some of these include Statistical Methods in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Artificial Neural and Networks (ANN).   IIIT Hyderabad does not have official CS and ECE departments enabling students from any stream to join any research center irrespective of the program they are enrolled in.  IIIT Hyderabad ECE placements are great Placement % 100% Highest CTC  INR 46 LPA Average CTC  INR 29 LPA Lowest CTC INR 13 LPA Overall, ECE at IIIT Hyderabad is certainly a great choice!Read more

Ques. Which is better NIT Trichy ECE or NIT Calicut CSE?

● Top Answer By Arnav Roy on 24 Jul 23

Ans. NIT Trichy is always considered superior to its counterparts and rightly so. The institute has a record of excellent placements, a competitive environment, and a highly learned faculty pool. NIT Calicut is well-known for its exceptionally good CSE department.  So, I think the decision of choosing between  NIT Trichy ECE and NIT Calicut depends more on personal preferences than the institute. However you would like to consider the following points before making the final decision, ECE is a bit more challenging than CSE in terms of the curriculum and the opportunities offered. However, hard work and assistance from faculty can help you. CSE on the other hand is an evergreen branch that has a record of providing hefty packages and great opportunities in general. NIT Trichy has a difficult campus life owing to its extremely hot climate and remote location. NIT Silchar has a pleasant climate with a beautiful lush green campus.  If you look at the overall picture, both colleges have excellent departments and offer similar opportunities, so the major determining criteria should be your branch preference. If you are interested in electronic systems and communication, go for NIT Trichy ECE but if you have an interest in programming NIT Calicut CSE is better for you.Read more

Ques. How is NIT Jalandhar for ECE?

● Top Answer By Vibhu Sharma on 02 Jan 23

Ans. Avoid choosing NIT Jalandhar if your goal is to study ECE for the sake of studying ECE sincerely and devotedly. ECE at NIT Jalandhar emphasizes placement, specifically in an IT company. As an ECE student, you'll be expected to perform exceptionally well in coding and other CSE-related courses. Additionally, the compensation packages provided by core businesses fall well short of what an ECE student would expect, further decreasing the appeal of ECE core. It is recommended that you choose another institute if you're passionate about electronics and want to pursue a successful career in the field rather than NITJ.Read more

Ques. How is DTU for ECE?

● Top Answer By Atrisa Dutta on 14 Aug 20

Ans. The ECE branch at DTU is very competent. It has a pool of talented, intelligent, and hardworking students. The reason being that the cutoffs for ECE usually are high. DTU ECE students get placed every year in MNCs like Qualcomm, SanDisk, TI, Samsung, and other such reputed firms that hire electronics engineers. A good percentage of the students also pursue an MS from renowned universities across the globe. Students also prepare for competitive exams like CAT, GATE, UPSE CSE, and even succeed in them. The faculty here is very knowledgeable and teaches lucidly. They are also very lenient in their evaluation. The curriculum is entirely focused on hardware, communication, computer architecture, advanced integrated circuits, signals and systems, superior probability, networking, and control systems. This is just a broad classification, the actual curriculum is vast, and students can find a lot of interesting sub-fields in electronics. The only drawback of the curriculum is that it does not offer any CSE electives. Assignments are scarce and can be efficiently dealt with as the solutions are readily available from various sources. The workload is at the bare minimum level. The exams require just a couple of weeks of diligent studying. For the rest of the semester, one is free to explore his/her skills, hobbies, and interests. 75% and above GPA is straightforward to achieve and maintain. Pushing a bit more during the exam period can fetch even 80% and above. This all makes the college life here very exciting and rewarding. To sum up, ECE at DTU is a good option that can be exercised if one compares among the top NITs.Read more
