National Research Centre on Camel (NRCC) is situated in Bikaner District of Rajasthan and is a one of its kind institute in India. The camels have played a vital role in every aspects of a country whether it is related to war as in World war 1 and 2, or in construction like Indira Gandhi Canal in Western Part of Rajasthan. Considering the importance of Camels a Project Directorate on Camels was established under the aegis of ICAR which was later named as NRCC. NRCC mandate to undertake basic and applied research for improvement of Camel, to provide leadership and co-ordinate camel research and training nationally and act as a national repository of information on Camels. The objectives of NRCC are to carry out research on Droughtability, to carry out research on milk production potential in camels, to carryout research for improving reproductive performance.
