Bharathiar University, School of Distance Education was established in the year 1991. It is located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. It has about 308 Spot Admission-cum-Learning/ Information centers across the country.
BU SDE offers UG, PG, PG Diploma, Diploma and Certificate courses. It runs BSc, BA, B.Com, BBA courses of 17, 6, 3, and 15 disciplines along with BCA, BSW, and B.Lib.Sc programs. The PG level programs offered by the university are M.Sc in 13 specializations, MA with 7 disciplines, M.Com, MBA, Integrated MBA, Executive MBA, MCA, MSW, and M.Lib.Sc courses. Each PG level program is of 2 years duration.
