Australia is top-performing nation for first time in five years, while the United Arab Emirates is on the rise.
New Delhi: The Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings 2023 has been published on July 3, 2023 on the official website of times higher education. Australia’s young universities have outperformed Germany’s for the first time in five years to become the world’s highest-scoring budding institutions on average.
Among Indian Universities, Mahatma Gandhi University(MGU) Kerala has achieved its ranking among the top 10 universities in the list. MGU has achieved a rank of 77 in the list.
Closely following this is JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research with a rank of 79. Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences has secured 91th rank.
THE Ranking is based on the same 13 performance indicators as the flagship THE World University Rankings, but the weightings have been adjusted to give less weight to reputation.
The universities are judged across all their core missions – teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook – to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons available.
The 2023 ranking includes 605 universities, up from 539 in 2022. A further 358 institutions are listed with “reporter” status, meaning that they provided data but did not meet our eligibility criteria to receive a rank.

A total of 45 Indian institutes were assessed in the THE Young University Ranking 2023. This makes India the second country to be the most-represented nation after Turkey with 47 participating institutes.
