The institute is affiliated to Punjab University, Chandigarh and has been accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade. SCD Government College Scholarships
Students can apply for the following scholarships and incentives provided by the college.
- National Loan Scholarship: This scholarship is given to students who score 50% or more marks in the examinations. Also, the annual income of their parents should be less than 2,50,000 INR. The students obtaining this scholarship can pay it back after three years without any additional interest rates.
- Scholarships for Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes given by both state and Indian Government.
- State Scheduled Caste Scheme: The students belonging to scheduled castes, that are a permanent resident of Punjab and are studying in the colleges/institutions of Punjab, can avail of this welfare fund. Such students are given scholarship under this scheme if the family income is less than INR 2,50,000.
- Scholarships by Punjab Education Board: This is presented by the state government on the basis of merit.
- Post Matric Scholarship Scheme: Under this scheme, the state government will provide scholarships to the permanent residents belonging to Scheduled Castes of Punjab. It will provide for the purposes of Post Matric education. Apart from this, their family income must not exceed INR 2,50,000.
- Low income-class Scholarship: This will be given to the students who do not belong to the scheduled castes but their parents' income is less than INR 2,50,000.
- University Scholarships: This scholarship is provided by the university on the basis of merit.
- Book grant for the children of political sufferers, students belonging to SC, Vimukt castes and the low-income group will be provided concession as per University/college terms for education.
Apart from these schemes, the college also provides full fee concession to the children of army officers who were killed during Indo-Pak, Indo-China or Sri Lanka army action.
NOTE: The students who wish to apply for the scholarships or concessions must send their application to the college office within a week of admissions. Their applications must also be accompanied by slips with their bank account and code number.
Fee Concession
SCD Government College has a special fee concession for needy students under the following:
- Poor and needy students are provided help from the Student Welfare Fund and Red Cross Fund as well. This aid is provided for a student's fees, books, clothes or medicines at the recommendation of the appointed committee.
- Completely Blind Students belonging to below poverty line, who join a regular degree/post/graduate degree courses in College would be allowed exemption from payment of Fee. Free Hostel Accommodation may also be provided if required by the student.
SCD Government College Awards
The college provides a number of special awards to deserving students under the following categories:
- Student of the Year Award: This award is given to a final who got first division throughout the year. S/he must have been awarded Roll of Honors/ College Color/ University medal in Academic/ Para-Academic Activities.
- Satish Chander Dhawan Award: This will be given to final year students, who will attain the first position in the University and have attained the first three university positions in earlier classes as well.
- Jagdev Singh Olympian Award: This award will be provided to the students who have already achieved roll of honor (sports) and have secured sufficient points in the current session.
- Dr. Dharam Singh Gill Memorial Gold Award: This award is given to the student who stands first in M.A (English) in 1st year.
- Principal Surjit Singh Bhatia Gold Medal and Cash Award: This award is presented to the student who stands first in M.A 1st and M.A 2nd year Geography in the University Examination.
- Prof. Jatinder Mohan Cash Prize: This award is given to the student who stands first in B.Sc 1st and B.Sc.2nd in the subject of Chemistry.
- Prof Satish Kant Memorial Award: This award is given to the student who secures 2nd position in the class of MA (Hindi) st and nd year in University Examination.
- Prof Vishrut Sharma Memorial Award: This award is presented to the student who stands first in the college in MA (Economics) 1st and 2nd year in University Examination.
The college has a special provision of awards to facilitate the students. It includes Roll of Honor, College Color and Merit Certificates.
What are these special provisions?
- Roll of Honor: The students who secure first five positions in the final exam of University are awarded this honor.
- College Color: The students who secure any of the sixth to tenth positions in the final year of the University Examination (UG/PG) OR any student who gets the first position in P.G first year (M.A/M.Sc -I) or in any class of undergraduate level of the University Exam.
- Merit Certificates: The students who stand First/ Second /Third in the college in the final year of all classes are awarded Merit Certificates.

- My opinion is that the course curriculum is average. All the content is provided by the professor or teacher, so my course is average - not good, not bad. The expectations for my exams are strict. Everything, from exam conducting to perspectives, is strict.
- Still, no companies come to my college because it is not a private college; it falls under the government sector. Therefore, there are no placement opportunities, making it unfavorable in this aspect.

Admission Process was Not difficult but to get admission in such a great college we must scored a great score in class 12th. Cut off list is so high , and competitive. Application form is provided on college website. There are also reservation benefits along with the admission form. Any one can easily acces it from there.

- Teachers are co-operative, friendly to the students and we can learn new things from them.
- Many educational/fun trips are organized by the college. Also security majors are properly taken care by the management team especially for girls.
Dislikes
- College campus is bigger then most of the colleges in Ludhiana as this mainly causes cleanliness issues here. Bigger area is not easy to clean.
- Canteen does not provide food variety and also the food taste is not so good.
Admission:
Admission was conducted on merit basis. also reservation are available for SC/ST, OBC. The biggest flaw of the college comes in there admission process. When i was paying the fees on admission portal. Various methods of payment is given on the site. Such as credit/debit cards, UPI. I chose UPI as method of payment, i paid the fees but i didn't recieve the receipt of payment. Teachers told me to pay the fees again as the UPI method is not applicable for admission. And they assured me that the fees that i paid the first time will be refunded. But months after months, even after several applications submitted i didn't get the refund. It took them 3 months to refund my money after submitting many applications. They should not give the UPI option if they can't accept the fees from that method.

- Although labs are good but still some apparatus are not working
- Classess are good but there are some fans and projectors and some other devices that need urgent repairs

If u wanna pursue a B.Sc then u must hv 85-95% in 12th for general and for SC/ST u need 75-90%. For admission just fill the form online which cost 200 rupees only fill the form accurately. Then just wait for 10-15 days after it they release a Marit list if u got the seat then u get a confirmation msg from the college. Then go submit ur documents after the documentation just go and attend the class. One more thing if u r a poor student and can't pay the whole fee then u can write an application to the principal and she will help u by taking the whole fee in EMI's

The admission process was completely online , the student have to submit all his particulars along with 12th results on the college admission portal , then the college would issue a merit list for all the candidates who are selected as well as the waiting list for the unselected candidates , the application fees was 2100? and after selection the person has to submit the fees offline online and then they would confirm your seat . The area where improvement is required is that they have to improve their website as it crashes a lot

- The environment of the college is quite good. With a lot of greenery all around the campus, it's the best place to be for students who want to be around nature in their college life.
- As I belong to a middle class family, the fee structure of the college was something that was a big relief for me, as it helped me in affording the course.

- I think the condition of some of the classrooms can be made better if students try to take care of the things around them. Otherwise things were fine.
- The students don't get to discover a lot about placements or internships, so that's something about which a lot of improvement can be made.

The admission process to get a seat in the B.Sc program of out college is quite simple. Students get full transparency of the whole procedure and admissions are based entirely on merit basis. However, students who fulfill the requirements of reservation get benefits of the same.

*Addmission process was good I have applied for admission in BA and I get notification from college website @scdgovtcollegeldh on email and sms for addmission confirmation within a month. *My frnd was in that college and the college too is popular in Ludhiana as it is govt college and I get form from college's website. Application begin mostly in may June and 1st semester fees with addmission fees I gave around 8000 ruppes. *Reservation benefits are availed later by the Sc st OBC students with the scholarship forms.
